My genres are corrupted
Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can offer me some advice?
I have been using calibre for years and it has been great. Recently though I have found that something has gone wrong with all the genres that I spent weeks and weeks creating. The books are everywhere and do not seem to be obeying the genre rule though the genre names are showing in the search bar? I tried resetting the whole library and it is still the same now, nothing has changed. Does this mean I have to flush the whole thing out and start again? I have almost 2000 books so it's not going to be easy. I just wondered if anyone else had ever had the same problem? And if so, did you manage to solve it? Thanks for listening, I appreciate it. It will help if you explain exactly how you create the genres and give an example of one that has gone wrong
You may be using features e.g. download metadata, which are overwriting stuff you have typed in manually |

My genres aren't working at all now. They worked fine up until a few weeks ago. Now, every single genre has books in it that aren't supposed to be there? That's why I thought it might be corrupted? I set up all my genres in the recommended way, and I have been using them with no problem for years. It is only recently that it seems like they are not working at all? |

You have just rephrased "it worked, now it's broken"
There's no new information that helps anyone help you. Post a link to the " recommended way" that you are using, so that others can see exactly what that is Are you using heirarchies, or just simple tags? Then run some tests: E.g. if you open a book which suddenly has a wrong genre, is that genre shown in book details and on the edit metadata screen.? If you fix it in edit metadata , does it stay fixed. If you create a new test genre and assign it to exactly one book, does it stay like that? Screenshots often help. Is your calibre folder on a networked drive or being synced to a cloud such as one drive? What version of calibre and did the problem start after some calibre or windows update? |
