Custom Ids suddenly won't open into browser

Up to at least a few days ago this worked fine. I have goodreads id's that when clicking on it would open default browser window to that page. Sometimes its a url that I've formated as URI I've also used URL and those both worked but now I'm trying to go to the link associated and it does nothing.

What OS are you on? If its linux its likely xdg-open on your system is broken.

Also just tried to use calibre's book browser and now that is also not working so yes, the open command seems to be messed up recently somehow.. any idea how to fix?

hmm.. just system restored, got an error and reversed back, and.. its' working.. didn't really think reversing back to work.. only got an error "Check the Windows Store for more info about iTunes." which I didn't even install on this laptop, go figure!
