Do you have a platform on file with Amazon as your device of choice? This is necessary to get automatic downloads I believe. Once that happens you can sync other devices. Each device needs the sync sometimes. You may need to do this once from a new device to just get Amazon to find the new device.

I think we are talking about two different things. I do have one of my kindle devices set up as the device of choice. What I was talking about was when I have a new device, such as the new iPhone 11, and when I log into my kindle account via the kindle app, having a mechanism for downloading all my books.

Syncing location between different devices and automatically downloading new purchases is a different matter. I have my paperwhite, which I keep in my car set up this way.

Yes we get thread drift, but this is more a jump to an alternate dimension then just drift.
