I have two devices with the same hardware:

their batteries last approximately the same length with approximately the same use.

@JSWolf: Notice the comment from ottisschwenk about battery size.

While the Linux based ereaders manage to give a decent reading experience with a single core processor, most of the Android ereaders go for multi-core processors. One of my 7.8" ereaders gives me close to the same run time as my Aura One when reading epub format. Sadly, it does so with a 50% larger and heavier battery. Using it's builtin TTS was pretty much death to the battery. Combining that with a monotone voice guaranteed to make any book a cure for insomnia made it unusable for the person who originally purchased it.

Not correct. Current technology includes Titan which is an overly to give color to eInk screen. Grant it's old and hardly used, but it is current technology.

It's been possible since eink was invented, if you front light it strongly enough.
Inherently adding colour by a static means to any static reflective screen, eink or something not invented, will reduce the reflected light. On compromise is to halve the reduction by only half covering each pixel. The result is you can only have desaturated colours, i.e. pastel shades.
It's not something related to current technology, but inherent to ANY bistable screen that's inherently monochrome. There are two technologies that aren't eink that can do static colour, one uses little sacs and the other is Mirasol, which did make it into one screen in two ereaders. Both seem to be failures.

How long the battery lasts depends very much on the power settings you select. With the Alita I've noticed that keeping the wireless connection on reduces the charge level quite fast.

Triton (correct spelling) is the current technology. It's the one that's been used on Readers for sale. Jetbook is the most notable. brand that used Triton. Until an actual Reader exists using Kaleido, Triton is it.

Keeping WiFi on reduces the time between charges on ALL Readers that have WiFi.

I disabled all the services not needed. Playstore email etc.
I also installed a light Launcher download from the Android forum and I use Kreader.
I go very long between charges.
