A typical Sunday morning. I spend the morning in bed, with a cup of tea, reading and playing Animal Crossing with Luna curled up next to me.

I just did my Sunday chores and got dressed. It's raining now, so I'm going to make another cup of tea, make a bite to eat and read some more.

It seems my reading slump is slowly but surely going away and I now I'm having trouble deciding what to read next. A lot of books by my favourite writers and in my favourite series were released recently.

I'm sitting around, yellow highlighters, Post-it tabs, etc., in hand, reading Will and Trust documents. Family crap.

(sigh). What is this thing, this phrase that people say "Day off?"

Unexpected four day weekend, we were given an extra day off. Drove the camper van to a remote area and did some social distancing cycling and hiking and parked for the night next to a river and read my new Kobo.

Now I’m home and unpacking In the extreme heat back home.

I'm viewing CARS. I really hate car-shopping.

I mean (sigh), cars. Cars are nothing more than a depreciating asset. You pour money in, and nothing comes out, other than transportation. It's not like Real Estate, which appreciates (typically). I tend to retain my vehicles for decades, not a few years.

And alas, my current hot rod is pretty ancient (22). I really ought to replace her, for the sake of reliability, but...for crying out loud. I mean...the price of cars is bloody obscene, for one thing. I could have bought two of my first home for the price of a typical SUV these days. Yowza. (Even pickup trucks seem to be ridiculously priced!).

Anyway...grumble. Maybe I'll find a nice used car that can last another 10 (years). Grrrrrrrrrr...

Whilst waiting for my snack to get warmed up in the oven I'm watching Maru and Luna watch the bats from the windowsill.

I emailed Ripple Rug about an estimate on shipping to the Netherlands. I got an answer, which I didn't expect. It's $60, that makes it a total of $100 for the Ripple Rug. So, for now, I'm going to wait and hope it'll become available in Europe.

Writing wills and trusts is one of my favorite activities as an attorney. If you have a good attorney, you shouldn't need to be doing all (or any of) the work with highlighters and post-its... unless there is a dispute about who gets what in your family.

Talking about wills, my uncle just signed the agreement that the house can be sold and he won't get any money.

My father's going to the solicitor on Thursday to sign everything and then the house is ours. What a strange thought.

I've ordered a really nice cake, to be delivered on Thursday.

It's a week and a half until the seven year anniversary of the fire, when everything began.

Trying to get my office ready for the absolute deluge of eviction cases we are about to be referred. The court system here is reopening fully on Monday and we expect to get tons of referrals from folks who get eviction notices on their door.

Doing legal work for the poor, especially during the pandemic, really shows you how some people view other people as no more than chattel or, dare I say it, human capital.
