With moving pictures A2 or X-Mode the refresh is not as important as with standing text.
If you don't mind that the previous page is easily preserved, you can also use the screen mode mentioned above and allow animations.
In any case, I don't like that and switch off animations.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but you might be able to get a bluetooth remote camera shutter button to control pages. The camera shutter button usually sends a volume up or down key press signal, which you can change in Moon+ to do page down.

It would be possible to have the system set the book cover as a screensaver if the option exists on the device to set a screensaver as an image from a file.

The reading app would just need to copy the current cover to the folder you select in the screensaver settings, and clear/replace it when you open a new book. That should cause the eink tablet to bring up the image before going to sleep.

I suppose you might get lucky and find a developer willing to add that function, but it shouldn't be too difficult.

First, to have a quick, clear system, to exchange access to system files and fonts for example. Second, to have the great magisk with the different modules, backups and restores, just freeing up some ram and rom

onyx delivers the devices rootable, the bootloader is not locked. So why not use this option ? The question is not what should I do with it, but why should I not have an open system

On my nova 2 ? Yes.
Rooting does not affect the update function if you mean that. It can also be uninstalled without a trace and the guarantee does not expire either. As I wrote, the devices are very user-friendly as far as that is concerned.
