I didn't mention it only because the last time I suggested that as a solution, I was threatened by the moderators with a permanent ban. But honestly, I would consider the process of removing DRM to be a "hoop". Much easier to simply get electronic media that is unencumbered in the first place.

Not if the eBook you want to read has DRM. There is no replacement for that eBook with one that has no DRM. Once properly setup, removing DRM is no different then adding the eBook(s) to your Calibre library.

You can talk about removing DRM, but you cannot give any details how to do it. You can give the URL to the Apprentice Alf blog.

That's not what the moderators told me. I talked about it in general terms just like you're doing now, and I was told in no uncertain terms that I would be permanently banned if I ever mentioned it again, so I have been very wary of the topic since.

It has changed over time. When I first got here, you could mention DRM removal, but not post the link. You had to give suggestions for searching to get there.

I checked the post in question and what you advocated was sharing copyrighted material with friends, which goes far beyond “talk[ing] about it in general terms” and is entirely unethical and has always been in violation of MR Guidelines.
