				Perpetual sync = battery drain

I have my Libra set to power off after an hour if I'm not using it in order to save battery drain. Recently I've been noticing that only after a day or so, I'll open up the ereader and find it almost completely drained of battery. I checked my settings and theyre still set to power off, except my ereader is not powering off automatically! I think I found the culprit -- the spinny sync wheel keeps going around and around "checking for updates" and it shows it hasn't synced successfully in nearly a week. I tried then to sync it with the desktop kobo tool but it's stuck on "syncing ereader".

Does anyone know why this might be? I did do a big connect with Calibre to upload some books and new metadata a few days ago, and I don't know if there's something that might have messed with the sync settings (I use the Kobo Extended Driver and Kobo Utilities)? Or could there be another reason that it won't sync from the wifi but keeps trying to? |

Disable wifi unless you actually click on the sync option - and once you have completed the sync disable wifi until the next time you manually sync.

Power the device off and on. Then do a sync. That's just to get the device in as clean a status as possible.

If it still doesn't complete a sync, I'd would check the database. It could be corrupt. And the phases shown during a sync are not perfect. The device probably has done the update check and is doing something else. If you really want to check, you can use the developers mode, turn on sync logging and look at the logs after doing a sync. The log shows the steps. |

The database can be checked with any SQLite database manager. But, if you are a calibre user, my Kobo Utilities plugin includes a function to check the database.

okay i used the utilities and it's telling me my database is ok. Got into devmode to look at the sync logs, but have zero idea what i'm looking at or how to fix it! the thing that keeps repeating under "Queued" is something that says "AddToTagCommand" plus a string of numbers, and before that under "Running" it says "SendTagChangesCommand". Does anyone know what that means or any idea on how to fix this? I did update my Tags on Calibre recently, but I would have thought that's just automatically synced through Calibre and has nothing to do with Kobo syncing with their servers?

I'm pretty sure that "AddToTagCommand" and "SendTagChangesCommand" are for collections. They aren't directly connected to calibre tags unless you use the tags as the source for your collections on the device. If you want, you can post or PM me the log and I can look at it. I don't know what all the entries in the queue do. I'd be looking for patterns and the times to see where things were going wrong. |

Both my Aura One and H2O were in perpetual sync mode after the last firmware update. In the end, signing out of my account and back in stopped the behavior on both devices.
