Yes! Although, if you want to be clear that it's tea and not coffee, you might want a small tea pot. But either is great!

With most of the places I used to get lunch from closed (although more are opening) I usually make sandwiches. Since my mother is into a cracker and Dutch crispbread phase it's a bit of a waste to take a half loaf of bread out of the freeze, I won't finish it before it goes stale. So I've taken to getting a couple of slices out of the bag and let it defrost. But I can't just leave it on the kitchen counter, the cats would lick it and it would go stale. My mother hates lunch boxes, they take too much space in the dishwasher, even if I wash it by hand she complains. I've been using plastic bags but that's not environmentally friendly.

So I just ordered two reusable lunch wraps. One is a bag, it's washable, the other is a wrap, also washable and easier to wipe down than the bag. Hopefully one, or both, will work for me.

The store I ordered from also sold a lot of other environmentally friendly items, I also ordered a tin of deodorant cream. I've got a biological/vegan deodorant I'm very happy with. It works even better for me than regular deodorant. But it does have a plastic casing (it's roll on deodorant). A tin is easier to recycle and is also smaller to bring with you when needed.

It seems to me that some changes we are forced or more motivated to make in these times aren't bad.

Yesterday was a bank holiday, King's Day (we celebrate the King's birthday). Our store's closed on Monday, so we didn't even get an extra day off. But somehow I completely forgot what day it is. Yesterday felt like a Sunday, today's just weird. It didn't help that I didn't work on Saturday and went to my sister's place from Friday night until Sunday night.

Next week we do get a long weekend. On Monday it's Remembrance Day, we commemorate all the people who died in war and conflict, but the focus is on World War II. The day after it's Liberation Day, we celebrate freedom. Normally there are festivals and every 5 years it's a bank holiday. This year there will be no festivals, probably online things will be organized, and it's a bank holiday. It isn't often we get an extra day off due to a bank holiday.

Tuesday is my day to clean up all my case files from court on Mondays, close cases or reschedule them for later dates. This afternoon, I am attending a class on Appellate Advocacy as part of the yearly required courses to keep my license current.

In short, it is my day to sip coffee and not make any phone calls.

A day reflecting on the all too short life of my eldest son,who left us two years ago today. He had been ill on and off for the last seven years of his life, and I was truly staggered at how stoic and matter of fact he was. When he got his final 'three months maximum' prognosis I was totally shattered, but he took it on the chin and said he had enjoyed what life he had had. That three months actually only turned out to be seven weeks, but the specialist did say they could only estimate the time.
Bless you son, you were truly a one off.

Today was Remembrance Day, where we remember those who died in the Second World War and the wars after. The big ceremony is held on the Dam in Amsterdam and the New Church on the square. Normally the church is filled with those invited and the Dam is filled with thousands of people. This time that wasn't possible. In the church were only those who spoke and several musicians, all following the social distancing rules. On the Dam only the king, queen, representative of politics, military, the chair lady of the Remembrance comity, two scouts (siblings) were there to place some of the wreaths, the girl who read her poem and the military trumpeter were there. And a lot of pigeons (it is the Dam after all).

It was very impressive and touching. More impressive and touching than it would normally have been with all the people filling the church and square. Although the reason for it being empty it's sad, it's also fitting for the 75th anniversary of remembering this.

Tomorrow we celebrate our freedom. This year, like every five years, it's a bank holiday. Each year there are festivals organized all around the country, several chosen musicians flying between the locations. Locally the day is ended with fireworks. Not this year though. I think a lot of people will be thinking about what freedom means for them than normal.

I just paid off the last of my student loan!

It wasn't a huge payment each month, but I'm glad it's paid off.

I'm treating myself and my mother to ordering food at one of my favourite delivery restaurants (my father doesn't like what we like, so he's making his own dinner).

I'm also thinking of getting a Ripple Rug for the cats, but I can't find the original in Europe. So it depends on shipping costs whether or not I'm going to do it.
