Yes, exactly. I should have explained in my initial post. I didn't mean to be so mysterious.

Assuming you are using Windows 10:
  1. Plug in your Kobo
  2. Open Windows Explorer
  3. Go to View and make sure Hidden Items is checked
  4. Open the .kobo folder
  5. Right click on the file affiliate.conf
  6. Open with WordPad or Notepad
  7. It should show:
    Code:
    [General]
    affiliate=Walmart
  8. Change it to:
    Code:
    [General]
    affiliate=Kobo
  9. Save

Walmart should be gone.

Oh, that's VERY good to know. I had actually ordered the Clara before reading this, and before JSWOLF's strong endorsement for the larger screen. Portability is very important to me, and a device that can easily fit in a jacket pocket or cargo shorts will get more use. So based on that, plus being a cheapskate, the Clara felt right. Since I'm happy with the screen real estate on my other ereaders, I'm sure that would have worked for me.

But if my Glo HD can still be my take anywhere device for OverDrive titles, and I don't have to mess with ADE, then I'm willing to spring the extra $ for the Libra. Still a little limiting, in that I'll need to first get new OverDrive content on the Libra even to read it on the Glo, but I can live with that. Just gotta plan ahead more for the few trips I take where I won't want the larger device.

Fortunately I was able to cancel my order and replace it for the larger model. I ordered from Kobo directly (and not the Kobo link to Walmart) since it's currently cheaper there. Anticipation, and sleep cover shopping, underway.

Thanks for all your help.

Putting a Reader in your jacket pocket or pants pocket is a very good way for the screen to become damaged. Don't do it. Get a bag to carry your Reader in. It's what do and I've never broken a screen on any Reader I've owned/own. And yes, I've taken some out and about quite a lot. I carry other stuff in my bag so I don't have to try to stuff pockets. I take my backup battery, phone, glasses cloth, sometimes Reader, sometimes headphones or earphones, sometimes music player, asthma medication, and other stuff. But it comes in very handy to be able to carry stuff with me.

The Libre can be your out and about Reader as well as your home Reader. My H2O is my out and about and my home Reader. Glad you were able to change the order easily. You'll like the 7" screen. Now that I've been using a 6.8" screen, I find the 6" screen a tad small.

My only mishap from carrying an e-reader in a pocket regularly for many years was losing my Kobo Mini. Happened a long time ago, and I don't know where I lost it, nor even whether it fell out of a pocket or if I set it down and forgot about, or had someone swipe it. With a somewhat rigid cover, I'm more than willing to take the risk with the screen, as I frequently don't want or need a bag with me, and I'm reasonably gentle with my stuff.

If Kobo had a current Mini size model with a backlight, I would have gone for that. That screen was definitely too small for the Mini to be my primary reader, and the lack of backlight severely limited its functionality for me. But portability is obviously very high on my criteria list, and at that size I could fit the Mini in places too small for a 6", like a cycling jersey or non-cargo pants. Since almost all my ebooks come from the library, I can read them on my phone. But I almost never do, for reasons I can't rationally explain. (I do read newspapers, blogs, and forums on my phone daily. I just seek a different experience which is facilitated by different hardware when it comes to book text.)

Who knows, once I spend time with the Libra, maybe I'll find my Glo and Paperwhites lamentably undersized. I'm open to that possibility. But since I don't think I can get the Libra in the pockets of my jackets or pants, I doubt it'll go out and about with me as often as my current readers. We shall see.

Not fitting in your pocket is a very big plus. Too many people break Readers in pockets. Plus, if the one you lost did fall out then that there is yet another reason for no pockets.

My final word on the topic is: Better for me to risk a screen (a low risk in my case) than not have a book with me when an opportunity to read arises. But to each his or her own.

I'll report back once I've had some time with the 7" screen. Looking forward to it.

Putting your ereader in a jacket or pants pocket is a very good way to carry an ereader through a crowded railway station without it getting knocked out of your hands and broken. It's what I do and I've never broken a screen on any ereader that I've owned.

I've read aof a lot of people ending up with a broken screen because of having the Reader in a pants/shit/jacket pocket. I won't risk it. It's not cheap to replace my H2O should it be broken while out and about.

Another possibility is to get a cheap used reader for use away from home so that if it got lost, stolen or broken you wouldn't be out a lot of money.

I have a used Tolino that RCentros pointed me to on ebay. I think I paid about $30 or $35 for it. That's the one I take out and about. I use my more expensive Kobo at home.

How long have you been doing this? How many of these cheap used readers have you broken?

I've never actually broken any of my readers (other than a divot in the screen when something fell on one from above while I was reading - reader was still usable).

I only suggested this as an option in case anyone was concerned about their expensive reader getting damaged or lost.

I've been carrying ereaders in pockets for almost 10 years without problem. (My K2 wasn't pocketable for me.)

I was delighted to discover that my H2O2 fits in my pockets almost as well as my Clara did. Pocketability is one of the main reasons I've held off getting a Libra, as the shape looks very much less pocket friendly.

And it is a good option to mention.

Myself, I've never cracked a substrate. I do put it in my pockets, and I've even sat down with one in my jeans back pocket a couple of times.

For me, having it in a case for the unlikely event that it will break just doesn't make sense.

Can you point to one of these reports? Honestly, as far as I can recall, I have never seen a single report of a breakage due to putting their ereader in a pocket. In my mind, the only mention is by you.

It is all a matter of taking some care. And not being stupid. On the rare times I wear a suit, I consider the inside jacket pocket of the coat as an extremely safe place to put an ereader. Putting one in the back pocket of a tight fitting pair of jeans, that would be stupid. Leg pocket of a pair of cargo pants, reasonably safe, especially if the ereader is in a case.

And to be clear, I am not saying you shouldn't warn people. But, your attitude implies you think that the simple act of putting an ereader in a pocket will break it. It is just like not all device that do not have a cover on them will break. I have an eight year old Kobo Touch that bears witness to that fact. It has never been in a case.
