(Not for any new reasons today, just on general principle.)

Also, we ran out of oil last night, which is how we heat water at our house. No shower this morning.

any chance of nearby friends with heated showers ? (once my water heater broke. i took my biggest soup pot and heated water in it on the stove, and used that to wash. not nearly as good as a shower, but better than nothing...)

We'll have hot water by tonight. I almost did the soup pot thing this morning, but decided to just use extra deodorant. There are showers available here on campus if it becomes critical (we used them during the ice storm, for example). But by now we probably have hot water at home. The oil company called this morning and said they were sending someone out.

well that's a relief.

my water heater didn't get replaced for several days (over a week if i remember right). i got reeeeally tired of that soup pot. and i did go to a friend's house at least once to wash my hair.

Our water heater broke (at a previous home) the day of our wedding. That was a nuisance. Fortunately I was going to my mother's house before the wedding anyway. (She had hemmed my dress for me.)

Geoff, this is your payback for having been one of those SHUMS in the long, long ago. At least that's what I tell myself (over & over) when it happens to me.

Just like every time my wife (who is gone for a long weekend playing horse in the woods) tells me, in exasperating detail, about her latest horse adventures - I just look at her an apologize profusely for talking about computers to her.

I am so sorry to hear that! I remember the 5 yr wait with my mother and am on year 1 with my father. My thoughts are with you.
