you should tell them to give up using IE, then it doesn't matter what it looks like.

most of the time i code for ff and just check it in ie7 and adjust it where necessary. but i recently had a project where the majority of the visitors would be using ie for sure, so i had to code for ie *and* support ie6. arg !!

A bit hard to do for internet applications... Especially if those applications will be run on schools. A lot of IE6 there, a spattering of IE7 and maybe some FF 2 or 3.
