Indeed, after wiping my mimas notes export works alright. And quality is same as it was in 1.x

Thank you, I didn't know any of that. Although the upgrade I applied before I did the factory reset was not OTA, and I think was supposed to be the full image. I got it from this post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=690

For anybody reading this thread and wondering about the latest firmware, I would like to add that the April 17th, 2020 update has been fantastic for me so far. Everything seems to be working great, and I love the new features - especially the new ZReader app which is so much nicer than the original built-in reading software.

I appreciate that Boyue has continued to update even the older models.

No the Twitter link was the file your device would download before they had some server snaffu. The updates disappeared for awhile and durring that time frame just put them up locally. Now the ota works again. A full image is about 1GB. If you backup the device with rktool it takes over 1GB as it takes it all (full firmware) minus the user data.

If they ever give us a oreo build its ota will be big and probably a full image for some radio and bootloader updates I would assume.

Hey, is the ZReader app pre-installed with the new update? I don't see it on my device. It doesn't seem available on Boyue or Google app stores either.

Interesting. I have an update I saved from last year and it's only 22.9 MB!

On the other hand... the April 17th update I downloaded (BYRead-V2.3.3-2020041717) is 717 MB. Is that still too small for the full update?

They are just zips without extensions on them just put them on your computer and add the .zip and you can see the differences in them some folders will be missing ect. I do not believe the latest one is a Full ROM though. The firmware and the ROM are not the same thing too. The ROM is the OS (like windows) the Firmware is your like BIOS and drivers to an extent plus a ROM so it has a OS. The ROM is one part.

It's possible but someone with more knowledge would need to look at it. It may be the full ROM but that's not enough to fix a brick for instance. A semi brick maybe, the biggest issue is that if you are semi bricked you normally can only flash the firmware img format stuff to the device through it's bootloader and a pc.

EDIT: actually we do have an sdcard slot so perhaps it can be updated off that in a semi if you had the file already.

Ah, i suspected that this depends on file type because i tried fb2 and pdf. epub is alright, thanks for clarification
