In anticipation of the delivery of my 505 tomorrow, I have another question regarding the "registration and authorization" of the reader. Right now, SONY eReader software is installed and functional, and both my desktop and laptop computers are authorized. What is the process of adding the 505 to the list? Do I just take the reader out of its box, plug it in to the desktop and register/authorize it? Do I need to install any other software from the CD (e.g., Adobe Digital etc)?

Thanks very much!

Yep, that's all there is to it.

If you plan to buy DRMed eBooks from places other than the Sony store then you will need to install Digital Editions (you should d/l the latest version rather than use the CD). This will let you buy and borrow "Secure Adobe" PDF/ePub ebook.

Create an Adobe ID and register it. Then you register the reader with DE basically the same as you do it with Sony.

It's 10:10AM here in California and the UPS guy generally delivers around 3:00PM. Of course, I have to work and wait 3-4 hours in addition after it is delivered. I'll report back promptly this evening, once I have a chance to play with my new toy.

At least, the wait is less than 10 hours now

I'm in Cali and I'm waiting on mine today as well (and it's already 4pm and I still don't have it). Worst part is, they require a signature and I'm due to leave soon for a St. Patrick's dinner. Looks like I might have to wait one more day

Talking Wow!

Finally, it finished charging and I started to play with my new toy. Just one word: Wow!

The Sony eBook store is in a maintenance-mode right now, so I cant register and start loading books; however, I've been reading the samples on my PRS-505 in the meantime. Needless to say, I am VERY impressed with the clarity of the text and the size/design of the PRS-505. This is going to be great! I can tell

While waiting for the eBook store to come back online, I took some pictures of the unit. I am sure you still cant get enough of PRS-505 pictures even after all these years

Cheers!

I love my Sony Reader

Hello!
I bought my reader last summer at the San Diego airport few minutes before boarding my plane back to Europe. I bought it from those self-service vending machines and the girl who was trying to buy one in front of me told me the vending machine didn't work ...I tried several times and eventually..it worked! I almost missed my plane eheh but I was sooo happy with my new toy I couldn't use it on my way back home unfortunately but as soon as I was back to Barcelona, I charged it, downloaded the eBook Library, and thanks to this forum I learnt everything I needed, I downloaded Calibre.
I use the reader everyday, to read my books, carry my pdf for work, reading a selection of articles of my favourite newspapers (this feature in Calibre is great, although it took me a lot of time to understand how this news feeder works eheh)

If I see an interesting article on the web, I use pdf x-change to convert the html in a pdf and I can read it on my way to work or anytime I want,

As you see I love my sony reader
Have a great day!

The eBook Store is up finally. I just authorized my reader, and the promotional code for 100 classics has been applied. This is exciting!

Let the reading begin!!!
