Could be that maybe there is missing font variants. It works best if each font has regular, bold, italic, and bolditalic. So 4 files per each font. If that is correct, there is likely something wrong with the fonts.

Custom fonts don't work with mobi format (documents you send to your Kindle via wifi). They only work with KFX and AZW3.

Thank you. I will take a look at the files.

I have some fonts with more variants (6 or more...)

And I have another font that the name is Heuristica and when show at the Kindle menu the name is displayed with strange characters.

When you send to kindle with both formats they works.

And I have AZW3 format bought from Amazon. The problem is not to apply the font to ebook, the problem is: the fonts I loaded doesn't show at the menu.

Deleted all fonts / restarted Kindle / add 2 fonts each time - and now all set.

Unless you want English names, I wouldn't worry about it. The name can be changed in the metadata if you have a font editor. Looks like Heuristika came from a russian site as the letters are cyrilic and it does spell Heuristika without the silent H.

I did that. I changed the name with an online font editor.

Now I'm looking for a SIMPLE way to add a little weight to a font. But all the softwares are too complex ....

You have a PW4. Just use the Aa menu feature to add weight to the font. You don't need to add weight using a font editor.

I have the 5.12.4 new Aa menu on the PW3
I have to say now that I have it for a while I don't just think it's poorer than before but horrible. It's also illogical for some settings that were global in Settings to be MOVED there, and if they are now per book, where are the global defaults set?

It's awkward, illogical, wasting space on the screen. I hate it. I suppose it's still impossible to go back a version?

Do you have excessive battery drain with 5.12.4?

The Aa options have always been ‘global’, not per book. So it is logical to include the other Reading Settings in the More panel as these are also global. It is better IMO, having them in one place, and not having to abandon the context of reading to access them, or remember which options were in the other location.

This is now consistent with Kindle app for iOS; I imagine it will come to Android and Fire as well at some point.

Page Refresh and Vocabulary Builder remain in Settings>Reading Settings for some reason.

That said, I wish you could ‘pin’ particular layout settings to a book, letting it be independent of global setting (whenever it changes).
