Thing is, nook ST and nook GL3 are not all that nice to hold. I've held a lot of different readers and nooks are some of the worst to hold. Not the worst to read with though. Sony gets that privileged with the PRS-600, PRS-900, and PR-700.

What?

Strong disagree on that. The Nooks are phenomenal to hand hold

How many different Readers have you held? I've held lots from Sony, nook, Kobo, and Kindle. So what I say is from experience.

You need to stop trying to claim some "high ground of experience" here please.

I've owned two old Nooks, 5 different Kobo models, PW2, PW4, O3, Voyage and have had in hand time with the 7.8" Nook GLP and normal GL3. I would have kept that 7.8" GLP if not for the Nook software and sluggishness. The hardware and in hand experience was supremely wonderful.

My comments are also, "from experience".

I don't think there are any current e-reading devices with page turn buttons that also do not also have a touch screen, so you are not required to use the page turn buttons at all.

I also frequently use the page turn buttons flat on a table or on a stand, no holding required to use the buttons.

And buttons do not require holding.

What could be a problem with buttons is that you cannot hold the Reader at that place on the bezel because the buttons are in the way and may get pressed. Buttons are best under the screen on the bottom if you have to have them.

I don't see how any one person can claim that because a specific ereader is comfortable or uncomfortable FOR THEM, that it must be the most comfortable or uncomfortable for everyone else too. People's hands come in a variety of sizes and shapes.

This topic keep reminding me that a long time ago on another forum I used to read, there was one poster who was forced by popular demand to put "IN MY OPINION" in large type in her signature so that it would show up on every post.....

I've never run into that problem with either my Nook ST or my Nook Glowlight 3. That's part of what makes them so nice to hold.

I don't think I would like buttons there. Like how Pocketbook is set up. The page buttons being right beside the home buttons seem like it would lead to mistakes. And the way I hold my reader, that's just a bad placement for me.

On the other hand, I haven't used Pocketbooks, so I'm not going to make blanket statements about how they are poorly set up.

PocketBook still makes two models without a touch screen. The Basic 3 and the Basic Lux 2 (front-lit). All their other models have touch screens AND buttons. As far as I know, PocketBook is the only company still selling non-touch models.

I can make a statement on the buttons in that placement as Sony did this with the T1. The buttons where are the bottom under the screen. They were good there as it made it very easy to ignore them.

Thanks for that information. I've given up on PocketBook making something I'm interested in, so I haven't kept up on their products.

Glad there are lots of choices.

I’ll take all the bezel I can get personally.

Exactly. I am SO happy to have choices. I had one of those phones with no bezel for couple of weeks and returned it as it was impossible to hold and use. Same goes for my Oasis. The thin bezel around the other 3 sides makes it hard to pick up unless it's asleep.

I would love to have a larger Voyage, the bezels and buttons on that are perfect...I just wish I could get it with a larger screen.

The buttons on the sides of my various Nooks are actually useful. I especially liked the buttons on the ST where you could hold the reader by the bezel and squeezing harder would trigger the button under the rubbery covering. You could hold the device and turn the page with one hand very easily.

The buttons on the Glowlight 3 are also pretty good, but I preferred the design of the ST overall.

One other plus for Nooks, the orange light on my Glowlight 3 is way better than the orange light on my Clara. Here is a comparison of both with the lights set to maximum orange.

The photo makes the Clara look like it has no orange light at all. In reality, the Clara turns sort of a peach color and the Glowlight is the deep orange/amber of a sodium street lamp.

I also found that to be the case.

The Nooks have a truly lovely orange lighting to them.
