How do you handle backing up books on your computer? - Page 3

As I say, I do have it in my plans. But, I just keep putting it off. Jungledisk just announced the new version supports their own storage cloud in addition to Amazon... so that may be the straw that gets me moving. Also, the $.15/gb per month is the same but they have no transfer fees.

But yes, no backup at all is pretty much not a good idea. Probably a Mozy account is a good bet for most people that want to set/forget for $50 a year.

Personal data is one of the things I simply do not want to lose. Especially all those family photos and years worth of financial data.

Carbonite is a better deal than Mozy, at least that's what I think. I think the Mozy account has a cap on it .... although I could be wrong. I suppose I worked for the Red Cross for too many years. Catastrophic damage can happen anywhere and to any one.

Mozy is unlimited unless you are on the free account. They are both $54 per year. So, not sure how that is a "better deal". They both seem the same price. So, it is really a personal choice I guess at that point.

Whatever works for you. the bottom line is, have a backup.

My data is automatically backed up every night including 4 daily 4 weekly and 3 monthly diffs on a datacenter server I own. And my calibre library (and other personal data) is autosynced between my two primary computers.

I suffer from duplicates occasionally, but I now just move everything into calibre (except for things purchased from Sony, which you can't) and let them store them in clumsy folders. I wish we could edit them and store them like mp3 files.

I do pretty much the same - ebooks get backed up along with everything else every time I back up. Most weeks, in other words (no computer use means no backup).

Not sure what you mean by clumsy folders. Calibre's folders are very well organized.

Clumsy was the wrong word. I'd rather not have folders at all, honestly. I love Calibre overall.
