Tachiyomi runs really well on a Nova Pro (or even Poke Pro), so should be great on the Nova 2.
Download/stream speeds were ok before, but should be much quicker with the Nova 2's improved wifi. Last edited by rowe; 04-13-2020 at 09:51 AM. |

Yes, I can confirm that. Hadn't used Tachiyomi in a long while. Just installed it on my Nova Pro and it works very well, both online and offline.
Also, once you have downloaded any material, you can then use the native NeoReader ereading app to view the png files and read comics that way if you prefer. That allows you to write on them with the stylus if you wanted to for whatever reason. It also gives you a variety of options for cropping and adjusting the contrast. |

After some thought, I decided to upgrade to the Nova 2. I've had a number of eInk devices over the years. My favorite was my "old" Nova, the first version to come out. So far, I am quite pleased with the Nova 2. I see some improvements over the original Nova, and it hasn't lost anything I loved about the original Nova.
If anyone would like an original Nova or a Likebook Mars in very good condition, I'm selling mine now. Check out my post in Flea Market (here on Mobileread). |

3rd day in the sunlight. Really happy with it. But that's easy. I came from a Kindle and wanted more than only a Ebook Reader App. |

Nice some improvements. And now that the firmware is available i hope someone gets root access. just to increase the sensitivity of the unusable microphone

I rooted a poke with I think kingroot or kingoroot. Its pretty nasty. It's pretty much Chinese spyware and harder to get rid of than nits. I got rid of it when I upgraded the FW. I would like a root method for android 6,but only if its clean and easily removable. Anyway, I think the nova 2 is Android 9, so good luck with. Android is getting as hard to root as a kindle. It is a shame that Onyx won't open it up (if they can), or at least release some form of sdk.

Contrast
My favorite screen for dense blacks has been the Voyage. Can anyone compare the Nova2 with the Voyage? Or with the Oasis 2? I use nightmode and really like a dense black background with good contrast. I have the Nova Pro, so comparison with that would also help. In a dark room the density of the background (or lack of it) is most apparent. Thanks for any opinions.

I bought the nova2 today. What I can say is:
The display is great, better colour temperature than the Kindle Oasis 3 and brighter. Contrast wise I would say they are about the same alltogether I can conclude contrast is great. There is an annnoying dark "cloud" along the left and bottom edges which is not so nice I didn't like the 4 black dead pixels on the screen and one dead pixel that is white all the time. The neoreader didnt satisify all my needs so I use Koreader which works phantastic Ehat I really dislike: the material especially on the back is such a thin plastic that when I knock on it with my fingers it will vibrate and make noises. I can easily imagine small cracks if you drop it or dont put it down carefully. Holding it in the hand feels equally cheap, you always feel like dont hold it too strongly you might break the plastic casing. |

It's working on mine.
Really disappointed in the lack of formatting options in the latest version of Neo Reader. Limited font sizes and line spacing are awful. Last edited by Skydog; 04-18-2020 at 03:05 PM. |
