This only happens if I stay within the book and not go back to the home menu. Once I exit out of the book and go back to home menu to (for example) switch to a different book, the default of Aa menu shows the list of themes as default (even though I also personally change the fonts more often).

Yeah, I found that out last night when I went back to the book after looking at another. Still a little better than the earlier firmware, as long as you're still reading the book you go back to the font tab.I personally wish themes was the last tab (or not there at all) — but I'm guessing others like this feature.

Me neither. I like the font menu in 5.9.7 better. I'm glad I found out how to freeze my PW3 at that version. Wish I had been able to do it on the Voyage. (5.9.7 also reads my Send to Kindle files without issues — 5.12.4 doesn't if I'm using a custom font, which I always am.)

Yea, for sure it's a bit better than before. What I really wish is that the light adjusting slider is right there next to the button to the Aa menu so I don't have to dive further into Settings to access it. Or even better how Kobo does it with the 'slide the edge' to adjust backlight, but I doubt Amazon will ever do it.

Haven't got the new menu yet? Try this way: send a book via SendToKindle, turn off Aeroplane mode, restart the device, wait until the book is downloaded, open the book.

i wouldn't call it worthless, bit it's close. I wish they would return progress bar at the bottom instead.

I wish there's actually an option just to see the page number without the percentage progress or minutes left in chapter. I just want to get lost in a book without getting distracted by how many % read, but at least track which page I'm at. Right now I just hide everything which isn't bad, but a page-only option would be handy for me.

The new fonts menu in the Aa menu always starts at the fonts beginning with A, no matter which font you chose previously, which is very frustrating for me as I have hundreds of fonts (unlike many of you who seem to prefer Charis SIL as far as custom fonts go). Before the update, the fonts menu would remember your most recent font and show the fonts nearest to it in the alphabetical order, but now it always starts from the very top.

Also the fonts menu suddenly disappears (auto-times-out) after some time, which is unexpected. Big thumbs down for this update.

Does anybody else have this problem, where the font family menu always starts from the top instead of the current font, and it also disappears from time to time (thereby forcing the Themes tab to display on pressing Aa again, something others have also pointed out)? Having to scroll from the top every time I want to change a font is an infuriating experience, which was never the case before.

I wrote to Amazon about this but got an automated reply (which clearly shows that this bug is not going to go away soon): Email support is not available at this time. This is a huge deal-breaker and I’m staying off my Kindle for the foreseeable future until this is fixed.
