Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, but the family was calling.

I've put together a short screen recording so you can see first hand what's going on.

https://youtu.be/dXymMP1mx-c

BTW, after I stopped the video and closed Calibre all the window instances of hitting View were being hidden behind Calibre.

Just eject the device and then you can check and/or repair the database.

I've previously done the Check Library after Ejecting, and again now, with no errors found. But still opens connected to two devices "Main (2 books)" and "Main".

What USB devices do you have plugged in?

Not Calibre Check Library.
The error is ON the devices DB. Everything needs to to be done on the device.

Sorry not following you. The only recent device of any kind was an SD Card. I selected the books and then "Save to Disk". Some of those books show On Device = Main and some don't show a device. When I looked on the card I only saw the epub and cover.jpg for each book. Pretty sure that's what I've done in the past.

I'm not aware of another library somewhere. I'm not aware of another device.

Isn't there a way to move/transfer/change the Library to be that of my hard drive?

When you start calibre, the "Library" and the "Device" button show different lists. The "Library" button shows books in the current calibre library. The "Device" button shows the books that are on the currently connected device. That is why the columns displayed are different. In your case, the device is a folder somewhere on your computer. And a tick in the "In Library" column means that calibre was able to match the book that is on the device with a book in the library.

If you click the device button and select one of the books shown, in the details pane on the right, it show extra details of the book. One of those is the path to the book, with a link to click to open the book. I can't read the path properly in the video, but it appears to start with "D:\OneDrive -". I assume that means the mounted folder device is on OneDrive. I think there is a number further down the path, so it looks like a calibre library on OneDrive. Whether that is you current library, or a backup copy, I can't tell.

From this, you should be able to work out what directory is being mounted as a folder device. It will be the common directory for all these books. And it will have two files that calibre uses, "metadata.calibre" and "driveinfo.calibre", in it. But, there is a tweak in the preferences to automatically connect to a folder at startup. This is called "Specify a folder calibre should connect to at startup". Go to that in the Tweaks page of the preferences and you will see what directory is being used. And you can clear this by pressing the "Reset this tweak" button and applying the changes.

Of course, your save-to-disk problem probably has nothing to do with this. But, clearing this up will remove at least one issue. Or, are you using save-to-disk to OneDrive and things are getting lost because of the sync?

Very nice explanation! Thank for taking the time to do that.

In the Right pane of Device View, every book was showing the correct Library location which was also where "metadata.calibre" and "driveinfo.calibre" are located. I should've done a recording first because what was odd was that none of the books in device view showed a cover or metadata in the right pane. However, if I double clicked to open the book the cover and metadata was there. In Library View the covers and metadata for same books where present in the right pane.

As you'll see in this screen shot below, the Auto Connect Startup folder was the exact same folder as my Library:

After pressing the "Reset this tweak" button and applying the changes Calibre no longer opens to a device.

I'd also like to mention something else that I have observed all along and still do. When I run Check Library it states:

"Found no errors in your caibre library database. Do you want calibre to check if the files in your library match the information in the database?"

When I click Yes, the only issue that appears is within invalid authors section as shown here:

BTW, does this forum block images from IMGUR.com from being shown within a post? I asked because these links work everywhere except here even though I used the "Insert image" button. Since I can't get them to show, I've attached them instead.

The lack of cover in the device list is sort of expected. In that case, it is trying to get the cover from the book, not the other file. It

And that is what was expected from comments made earlier. This was a very bad thing and you are probably lucky your library wasn't corrupted. The fact it wasn't was probably because you never tried to send a book to the device.

Because you are connecting to your library as a device, that is expected. Calibre creates those files to help track what is on the device. But, when it is treating the directory as a library, these files are not expected.

Not connecting to your library as a device should solve some of your problems. I'm not sure if it solves your original save-to-disk problem. You will probably need to try that again.

I was able to check the boxes for the invalid authors shown in the screen shot and then click the delete marked button. All is good now.

Thank you everyone!
