Could it also be ported to calibre-spy?
For me at least that would be better than the button that's there now. Take Care - BR |

Hi there! I hope you are staying safe!
I wanted to ask if you can create an exeption in the plugin when cleaning up titles that have parentheses containing a # or a number to not remove the series from the title that is outside the parentheses? Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) is the Original Title And the Goblet of Fire is the Job Spy cleaned up title SGoodreads formats their libray export .csv's to ALWAYS have the titles formatted as title (series, #series index) titles within the parentheses are the default series and anything outside is the title. I understand that many books would have parentheses not containing the series, which is why I would suggest if there is a # or a number in them that would indicate it being a series. This only affects books where the title and series are the same or have the same words. I have a lot of books that have the series in both the title and the series. Addicted After All (Addicted, #3) === After All Alpha One Security (Alpha One, #1) ==== Security Anyhow, this happens a lot when I import the Goodreads .csv files into my empty library and use it to create empty books. Since I have thousands of those books I am creating empty folders for using the Job Spy plugin to fix the titles is a must for me. Anyway, the main thing I am asking is to fix the plugin to make an exception to removing a series from the title if that series is outside parentheses with numbers or a # sign. Thanks! edit: I noticed the same thing happen when the series contains the author's name City of Night (Dean Koontz's Frankenstein #2) author Dean Koontz Title: City of Night Series: 's Frankenstein Final Edit Also titles containing colons if the series and title are the same preceeding the colon, leave the title in Dom Wars: Round One turns into Round One with the Dom Wars being removed. Yes, the series is fine, but the titles are missing parts. ![]() Last edited by Rellwood; 03-25-2020 at 07:36 PM. |

JS Quality Fixes: Customization ToolTips
Rellwood:
Short answer: it is all within your control via Customizing. See the attached image that answers your questions and shows you how to customize scrubbing, including how to have it skip over books with titles having whatever patterns you specify. DaltonST |

One last request (for now) is there a chance that
"metadata_edit_custom_column_order" can be added to the per-library tweak option? |

Since it's no longer possible to edit html in the comments columns (at least not the Custom ones) can you create a tool to make it possible again?

You can already do that. See the attached example. I hit F2 while the mouse cursor was on the MyComments custom column, which is Long-Text Like Comments (i.e., HTML).
What exactly are you asking? Be specific. |

I can no longer edit the HTML source, or copy something from one book to another.

I just did what you describe using the Edit HTML dialog that is shown in my prior post when I pressed F2 on a Long-Text Like Comments Custom Column.
You cannot do what you ask for non-HTML Comments Custom Columns (short-text). I still have no idea what you are referring to. |

OK, how do I reset things? I was looking at the unhelpfully-named Protect/Unprotect Custom Columns menu items and all the custom columns in my edit metadata pop-up have disappeared and I can’t get them back.
They’re needed for my log book in LibraryThing process. Mac OS 10.13.6, calibre 3.48. No, I’m not upgrading any further - not until I can deDRM books in ADE without resorting to virtual machines. (What I’m trying to achieve is to display the calibre book ID in the edit metadata pop-up, so I can click next in the pop-up, adding the calibre ID to the LibraryThing record, and the LT id to the calibre record. At the moment, I can display the calibre ID as a custom column in the booklist grid, but I have to go into edit metadata to add the LTID in the ids field. This has to be done individually for each calibre record and makes the process annoyingly time-consuming.) |
