Things here went pretty crazy from "just a flu" to the collapse of the entire health system on some regions, specially Madrid. 1/5 deads happened on nursing homes and 15% of positive people are healthcare professionals.

Most people here didn't take any precautions until the government forced the quarantine. I have no one to blame but it makes me sad seing all countries over the world repeating again and again the same mistakes.

Please stay safe, do take protections whether or not your local goverment enforces them. It's not just a matter of self survival but also a tribute to your loved ones.

I can't speak for the rest of South America (to each its own) but in Chile I dare say we are doing good so far.

Restrictions to freedom of circulation and such are being put on place as needed and not indiscriminately; as always, people who don't make policy are voicing their disagreement with this and that, but what can you expect from people (outvoted politicians or otherwise) who aren't responsible for what happens when you don't take any action.

I should think that brilliant approach to decision making or criticism thereof isn't entirely exclusive to my country...

Gusto de leerle caballero; desde Santiago de Chile, comuna de Las Condes, con aislamiento legal hasta este Jueves al menos: aguante, ánimo y fuerza allende esos lares, en estos tiempos difíciles.

Indeed, if you replace your common sense with the local (or not) government's, specially so when it's plainly lacking (don't know how is that in Spain, but in Chile, qué te puedo decir) you're asking for trouble.

Be kind, be safe.

I’m old enough that I still read a printed newspaper as part of my daily routine. Our local paper, the Tampa Bay Times, just announced that they are only going to do printed editions two days a week. Given the state of that industry I expect that will continue to be the case even once the current emergency has passed.

I'm old enough to remember when I subscribed to both the morning paper (liberal) and evening paper (conservative). Of course, my first job was delivering the evening paper on a bike as a paperboy. Now, I only subscribe to a national paper since the local paper is so bad.

(sorry, didn't notice the misstatement at the end until just now. Some may have guessed that is what I meant)

Actually, the Arrowverse needs to be n hold for 8 more weeks thanks for E4. The Second crossover episode won't be aired for 8 more weeks and if you don't see it in order, the crossover is then spoiled. So get recording them all while you watch Batwoman on E4 and Black Lightning on Netflix. As for Black Lightning while there is no specific crossover, he's part of it. So you can binge until the crossover and wait.

Get a grip, Jon. I'll watch them in any old order I want to, and enjoy them immensely. The crossover events are fun--a big part of the attraction for sure. But I feel no particular compulsion to jump back and forth to try and achieve some sort of exact chronology. I watch a season of one series then jump to another series entirely. Plus I'm not "recording" anything. There's more than enough on Netflix to occupy me for months. They're mindless fun. I couldn't care any less about spoilers.

LOL! I have no idea what the Arrowverse is, but you make me very glad I don’t watch television. That’s waaaaay too much work.

It's only an issue in the UK. In the US, there's not jumping about and no hassle. All the shows in the Arrowverse are on CW Network. The shows are Supergirl, Batwoman, Black Lightning, The Flash, Arrow, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. All based on DC comics. The reason it's called the Arrowverse is that Arrow is the first show to air on CW. Arrow has ended in the US. There will be another show to take it's place based on Superman and Lois Lane.

Thank you for the explanation.

I have no objection to tv on its merits, I just don’t like watching it. Every now and then, I can get caught up in a show (I couldn’t tell you what caught me) and get a lot of enjoyment out of it. I was a huge Buffy fan, for example (yeah, I know that’s ancient history). But there are so many very good shows out there, I don’t know how you choose. (And I really wouldn’t like to watch a lot of tv - there are too many books to read.)

One way I choose is when I see an advertisement for a show that might catch my interest. I'll watch the first episode or two and see how it goes. If I like the show, I'll keep watching. Sometimes I'll try a show based on who starring in the show. Having a DVR and Catch Up and Box Sets helps a lot as too many good shows overlap and there's no way I could watch them all. Sometimes I'll watch a show that I didn't see when it was on but it got good press so I might try it if it's on Box Sets and then continue with the next season.

Heck, I binged 14 seasons of Grey's Anatomy and watched season 15 and am watching season 16. I managed by watching at last 2 episodes a day. One in the morning and one at night. I made a spreadsheet to let me know how many episodes I needed to watch a week in order to finish by a certain date.

Another way I got into some shows was because my wife wanted to watch and I watched with her.

There are a lot of shows out there and I do have to limit myself or I'd spend way too much time watching TV. However the DVR helps. I o record some shows that I don't watch until the summer rerun season.

It's exercise for your eyes. After spending so long focusing at an arm's length, a bit of TV means you get to focus in the middle distance. What we need now is some fireworks at night to exercise long distance vision.

I don't watch TV either, but I do subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime, and watch some of their shows that have caught my interest. I absolutely hate having to wait a week between episodes, or even a day. That said, I don't watch Netflix et al constantly either. Sometimes months go by without my having gone there even once. Then suddenly I'm in the right mood and I watch something for several days in a row.

But that episode dribbling on TV, one episode at a time... can't stand it. The Game of Thrones was the only exception to this, because it just wasn't available anywhere else and I didn't want to wait for months or even years to see it.

"I don't watch TV, but I DO watch TV."

Why do so many people try to make some sort of distinction? Say you don't watch much TV. Say you don't watch cable TV. Say you don't watch TV with commercials. Say you don't watch TV shows when they originally aired. But make no mistake ... what you've described is "watching tv." You do it. You even admit to being interested sometimes when you do. It's OK. Just say it. You watch some television.
