It changes here daily, too, but at least in my state, I find it easier and faster to get the updated info direct from the sources instead of from the news. I do tune into the mayor / governor daily press conferences when I catch them on TV, but they are also available to watch on city and state government web sites after they air online, along with written updates and FAQs on current restrictions, services, and other info.

Our main news website covers most new information, both local and international, very quickly several times a day and I can get it all from one place, so I don't have to spend a lot of time seeking it. But that's one of the few benefits of living in a very small country, I guess. There's just not that much local news to cover, compared to huge countries like the US.

As to TV, I almost never watch it. No time and no inclination either.

Hum, a Vorkosigan Saga re-read. Sounds like a plan!

Apart from the fast-changing situation, I watch the news and current affairs programmes so that I CAN worry about something else! I'm REALLY worried about my cat and I discovered years ago that worrying about something else distracts me from what I'm actually worried about. For example, I often read vaguely troubling thrillers in times of stress; I then wake up disturbed by something happening in the book, rather than the event happening in my life.

Weird, I know, but it helps.

PS. I don't have a television, I watch everything online, including the BBC (yes, I do have a license).

I've been watching and listening to a lot of concert videos and musicians live streaming, but tonight I saw a comment on a concert from last summer about someone looking forward to a show, and it made me a little sad. Not likely to be much live music this summer.

Speaking of "Quiet Times:"

My favorite "social distancing" activity is sitting on the back deck, in the sun, with a mug of tea and something to read. We live on an approach path to Newark International Airport. We also see a lot of business jet traffic to Morristown Airport, and we have several small municipal airports in the area. It used to be rare to look up, day or night, and not see at least one jetliner overhead. It was also common to see contrails in the sky and hear small planes nearby.

I haven't seen an airplane of any sort in more than a week.

There's also almost no noise from the nearby Interstate highways.

Even with most of the neighborhood home, it's very quiet out there.

The U.S. has the most cases in the world now and there are cases in every state. Epicenter is New York, and I'm in Manhattan. I do watch some news but turn it off when Trump starts his press briefings now. I had watched parts of them but because of the lies I don't watch at all now. I listen to some NPR on WNYC radio and I watch some local TV news and sometimes catch the mayor of NYC's press conferences.

Streaming shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, PBS, Acorn and Britbox are my escape. I am reading Midnight in Chernobyl. Saw the HBO series last summer.

After "stay at home," I figure there's not much more I can glean from the news sources. So they'll just have to do without my viewer-|reader-ship for a while. Someone will text me when restrictions lessen. Until then, there's reading, coding, and the Arrowverse to keep me occupied.

I used to fly small planes out of Morristown when I lived in NJ and worked in NYC. Now I am retired to Florida and this would normally have been a very busy and fun time of year with too many outdoor events to keep up with. My wife and I are catching up on our TV viewing backlog instead.

Yesterday I saw a group of young girls sunbathing together on a dock because the beaches are closed. In the next county over from us they closed all of the public parks and nature preserves because too many people were congregating there.

Come guys please, stop the ritual beating of whichever political figure you despise, at least in this thread. There are whole forums where you can get your mad out.

Kind of crazy.

There is still some traffic here in Atlanta, but then again, we don't have it nearly as bad as the NYC area. I get out for my daily walks when the weather allows and there is usually a line at the drive through Chick-fil-a (except Sunday, of course).

Greetings!

I'm chilean, staying at home for two weeks now; first week as a precaution from my employee (state bank) and now because of municipal one-week quarantine.

It's been remote work, at regular working hours (Monday to Friday), and indeed quiet times when off-work.

Been playing the Last of Us on PS3 for the first time: it's rather strangely contextual, for post-apocalyptic fiction, of course.

They closed the public parks in Georgia as well. People still walk the trails, but the parking lots are chained shut.

A lot of stores are doing curbside pick up service. I got a load of cat food at the local Petsmart and pick up some groceries at the local Publix that way. It's pretty easy, just order online, they let you know when it's ready, then you let them know when you are there. They load the groceries in your car and you never have to get out of the car.

I watched people going into the Publix while waiting for my groceries. Some people wear masks, some gloves. I have latex gloves that I bought a couple of years ago that didn't work out for the purpose I bought them for. They are pretty handy to have now if I actually need to go into a store.

How are things in Chile and South America in general? Most of the reports I've seen come from either the US or Europe.
