Thank You. These measures are really drastic but I am afraid they are necessary.

Our town has called for a voluntary shut down. I have decided to comply because my wife is high risk. Of course not many people are buying jewelry right now. The local paper interviewed some businesses about this. One of the companies interviewed was our local YMCA. I noticed in their interview that they made no mention of planning to shut down. We are members but have not been since this thing started.

Nice typo.
We actually don't fight much. We disagree on a lot, but I think we've both quietly decided that the best way to handle those things is to just not speak of them. I did think it would be a fight to get her to pay attention to the risks we're facing now. But let's be honest, it wasn't me that changed her thinking on it. And she'd never admit it if it was.

Left the apartment for the first time in 9-10 days yesterday to get some groceries and just stretch my legs. Can't say I was impressed with safety measures at the local grocery store: no wipes for carts/baskets, no hand sanitizer, and a symbolic spray bottle of something blue (not likely effective against viruses) and A ROLL OF PAPER TOWELS at the self-checkout. Saw zero surfaces being cleaned, zero PPE on employees while I was there.

Saw a handful of dog walkers and sporadic traffic on the 10-15 minute walk through one of the more densely populated neighborhoods in the city (though also one most affected by university closures).

I've been doing mostly ordering online. Instacart delivers from my local grocery, but they have a 3 or 4 day back log now and I'm pretty sure the online database isn't up to date. Just ordered a batch of catfood for curbside pickup from my local petsmart. Plus, I've been doing pick up at some of the local restaurants. One of them is using the time to do renovations and remodeling.

When the weather allows, I've been doing 3 mile walks. There is a fair amount of traffic. I walk past the local Chick-fil-a and it seems to do booming business.
It's one of the drive thru only places, so it's business as usual for them.

According to my neighbor, the local grocery store is business as usual and the shelves seem mostly stocked.

I'm in po-dunk Tennessee at my parent's house. Mom has been in the hospital and re-hab so I've been here over a month now. The Walmart here has buggy wipes as you walk in and hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer and wipes in the meat section. And in the self check out areas there is someone that as soon as a person finishes checking out wipes down the whole area- where you lay your items before scanning, scanning area, where you bag your items, the display you touch to punch in produce numbers and the credit card keypad. I watched her, she was very thorough. They are constantly stocking the shelves. Yes, they are light on choice in pasta and canned goods, but fresh produce is fully stocked. Meat isn't fully stocked either, but there is still a good selection. And yes, there was TP available day before yesterday.
We need to protect the supply chain. Closing rest areas is not a good idea. The drivers can't go into restaurants any longer to go to the bathroom, should they poo by the side of the road? There just aren't enough truck stops out there. We need to change the rules and allow truck drivers to walk up to drive through windows to get food, obviously they can't drive their trucks through. We need to keep some hotels open, most trucks are not sleeper cabs, and most drivers are out over night. Sleeping in their seats just won't work. I honestly don't think most people realize everything at some point is on a truck.
Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now.

Around here, the YMCA and other gyms were among the earliest closures. Now all but the most essential businesses in my area have been shut down. We don't have high numbers of reported cases of coronavirus so far and I guess the government is trying to keep it that way.

I still havent been in a reading mood much. Been sick with what is hopefully a chest cold all week. We have been working from home for 2 weeks, mainly. Our town is not in lockdown so I can still go out, but haven't been. I am not bored since I am such a homebody anyway, but in a bad mood today (mainly from cold and just moody probably)

I'm struggling a bit with what I'm in the mood to read. I'm having trouble finding something that I can immerse myself in. In my current reading list, I have a couple of ok books, a book that I'm re-reading a series and starting to feel a bit burned out on and some history books that are interesting, but generally history books are intellectually interesting rather than immersive.

I finished up Smoke Bitten, Patricia Briggs latest earlier in the week. Maybe it's time to go back and start re-reading that series.

It sure would be nice if some of my pre-orders got released early as eBooks since they are likely already complete, but that's not likely. This would be a great time for some of those big series we are waiting for on TV, such as Amazon's LOTR series and the WOT series, to make an appearance. Lots of people looking for something to capture their interest.

Plus, I've never responded to comments about my stubborness with anything other then, "Yeah." I'm far too lazy to fight the truth.
