I also have a soft spot for the 70's/80's Herbert covers. The ones that looked like this: ![]() I have this one at home. Say what you want about David Lynch's Dune, but the production design was excellent. ![]() |

The Tea Master and the Detective by Aliette de Bodard is FREE on the Subterranean Press website (US Only)
This is "a gender-swapped retelling of Sherlock Holmes with Watson as a sentient spaceship" set in de Bodard's Xuya Universe - "a timeline where Asia became dominant, and where the space age has Confucian galactic empires of Vietnamese and Chinese inspiration: scholars administrate planets, and sentient spaceships are part of familial lineages." I've read the story and can recommend it. Another upcoming Xuya story with a similar pairing of characters has been announced this week. |

Oooh, I really liked her Obsidian and Blood series/trilogy. This sounds different than those, but since I mostly read mysteries, sounds like a cross-over mix of genres that I might like. Thank you!

And a bunch of other Tolkien titles on sale too, at least in the Kindle US Daily Deal: The Children of Húrin, Unfinished Tales, Beren and Lúthien, The Fall of Gondolin, maybe some others...
I'm slammed at work, so here's a (messy) link for the whole Kindle US Daily Deal page, no time to sort them out: https://smile.amazon.com/b/ref=s9_ac..._i=11552285011 I was sort of wondering why all the Tolkien in the Daily Deal - now I know there is a Tolkien Day, which I didn't know before, thank you @WillAdams ![]() Quote:

Probably easier to pick them out of the author page:
https://www.amazon.com/J-R-R-Tolkien/e/B000ARC6KA/ I already had most of them, but have also picked up Unfinished Tales and some others. Debating on getting Letters from Father Christmas and Bilbo's Last Song --- anyone know if the pricing is typical or good for those titles? I'm thinking typical? |
