If you want to try it you will need to install it manually in calibre. see the topic "How do I install a plugin manually?" in the Introduction to plugins post.

Make sure that you remove the "kfx_output_previewer_path" tweak before trying it.

Amazon will be dropping support for the Kindle Previewer running under 32-bit versions of Windows starting in April.

Anyone using 32-bit Windows will eventually need to upgrade to a 64-bit OS in order for this plugin to continue to be usable.

Version 1.40.0 - 05 Mar 2020

Detect Kindle Previewer versions up to 3.37 and remove support for Previewer versions older than 3.35. Version 3.37 handles books with many SVG images, SVG images with viewBox having non-zero min-x or min-y co-ordinate, tables with column widths specified in different units.

Handle different file layout used by Kindle Previewer 3.37 under MacOS. (Fixes "Conversion error:</b> Kindle Previewer 3 not installed as expected. (/Applications/Kindle Previewer 3.app/Contents/MacOS/lib/fc missing)")

Hello, I'm using calibre 4.12.0 and KFX Output 1.40.0. Kindle is on version 5.12.4.

I've converted an ePub to KFX but footnotes are not displayed. Only the note number is showed. However, If I touch the link to go to the footnotes chapter, it sends me to the correct note. Touching the link to go back also works.

If I convert to AZW3 footnotes are correctly displayed.

It looks like something is causing the end of the footnote content to be detected incorrectly. Most likely the footnote number and text are not in the same <p> or <div> element.

See section 10.3.12 Footnote Guidelines in the Amazon Kindle Publishing Guidelines for information on how to properly code footnotes.

Thank you for your answer. I'm not entirely sure what that means since I don't know HTML or digital publishing, but I tried editing the ePub in calibre.

This is an example footnote from the end of the book:

    <div class="footnote">
      <a href="../Text/e9788845981708_c02.html#ref_ftn_fn70" id="ftn_fn70"><span>70</span></a>

      <p class="p"> [FOOTNOTE TEXT HERE, redacted because I don't know if I can post it] </p>
    </div>

If I understood what you mean, it looks like the footnote number (70) is inside the same <div> element of the text.

What you have doesn't quite match what the Publishing Guidelines specify for footnote coding and that might be the cause of the problem.

If you want me to investigate this further then use the ScrambleEbook plugin on your book to remove the copyrighted text. If the resulting file shows the same problem with footnotes you can post it here and I will take a look at it.

The value "inherit" is not supported by the Kindle Previewer for the "width" property. If you want to convert that book to KFX you will need to use the calibre editor to find and remove that.

"width=inherit" is just the way that the Kindle Previewer reports an unsupported property value. It does not show the actual CSS syntax "width: inherit" in the error message.
