My least popular and longest (of 83) for this year was one I didn't even finish, because it was too long and I got bored. Mercenary by Angela Verdenius.

I use Goodreads extensively and log in more than once every day.

Goodreads is not just for finding series order. It's main use is for keeping track of the books you've read.

FF seems to have improved a bit since I last looked at them, but I only had to check two Australian series to find an incomplete one. GR has the most complete database in my experience.

I do not track the books I read. I can remember if I have read a book or not and whether I would want to reread it. I have no other interest in tracking books I read. I might need to use Goodreads to track books, if I get dementia. But then again, I would probably forget to check Goodreads.
I used to be able to remember the page I stopped at while reading and could go right to it when I picked up the book again. Now with eReaders I do not have to do that and have probably lost the ability to do it.

My least popular of last year was a crowd-pleaser in comparison, with 21 other readers. I’m surprised, though; I have thought Churchill Goes to War: Winston's Wartime Journeys would have pulled in a lot more WWII buffs. (And it was quite an interesting book, too, with implications for Churchill’s conduct of the war.)

I use Calibre for that. Never liked Goodreads (too much noise, the same as with Facebook, Twitter and the like. Don't use those either, except for rare cases).

Funny. I never hear a peep from Goodreads unless I go to it. Much like this forum. *shrug*

I know some people tend to get hung up on the "social" aspect of Goodreads--and everyone's free to use or not use whatever they want--but the notion that Goodreads is anything like Facebook or Twitter is pretty far into left field. It's the equivalent of equating this forum with Facebook or Twitter. And who would do that?

I admit I've used Goodreads very little, but it generates too much visual noise for my liking. At least that's the impression I get every time I go there, and it repulses me. No visual noise on this forum.

I don't find any visual noise on Goodreads. I find it's very easy to use. You can just use it for tracking your books without ever needing to use any of the social aspects. You don't need to use the forums or have any friends list. There is only one forum I suggest using sometimes and that's the librarian forum so you can report any errors in listings to be fixed.

I don't even care about tracking my read books. I'm pretty-much done with books after I've read them. I use Goodreads as a virtual TBR pile (I don't buy books before I'm ready to start reading them). Occasionally, I'll look at what people whose tastes are known to me are reading.

Tbh, I don't see the point in using yet another website when I can do exactly the same thing in Calibre, where I do everything concerning my library. I don't want to see any "similar books" list or "readers also enjoyed" list or "more books from the author" list when I click on a title to read the synopsis. That's visual noise for me. in Calibre I can read the synopsis without any of that. And mark the book as read and rate it. No need for Goodreads at all.

I admit Goodreads is good for finding out series info. That's the only thing I use it for.
