Aura ONE Ambient light not working

Hi I'm new on this forum! I have a Kobo Aura One and the red/ambient backlight stopped working. In the beginning it only turned on when I held the ereader in a certain position and after a while that stopped working and it did turn on a couple times when I held it under water, but now it doesn't work at all anymore. It seems like a hardware problem. Kobo customer service can't help me, they don't repair ereaders and they only advise me to do a reset, which I've tried and didn't help. Doesn anyone else have this problem and what can I do fix it?

Do you have it on Auto? That's what it sounds like, since you say "it only turned on"...so you aren't adjusting it yourself. Then it is based on time of day. If you turn off Auto (a small checkmark beside the settings when you touch the bulb icon at the top), and then adjust to your taste, you can have it more or less orange/red.

One question out of curiosity... Why were you holding your Aura One under water and playing with the light?

Does the light work when you trying setting it manually?

No it is not that. I cannot turn it on at all, auto is not on.

No it just turned on. And it doesn't work at all now.
