When there is a date option, can "today's date" be added? I merge books but the date added to Calibre should be today's date if possible and not the oldest or newest of the books. Also, If there is a way of instead of taking from the books, to fill a custom column with a user defined specific tag? I have "merged" as the bookstyle of the finished book, but the bookstyles of the individual books are "series" or "serial", or "standalone" which kind of makes having the bookstyle of "merged" not automatically possible. So, I guess I am asking for the ability to select my own tag for a custom column instead of taking them from the books, and the ability to choose "today's date" instead of taking it from the selected books. |

Calibre's Date field is set to today's date for a new merged book. Only custom date fields have first/last/newest/oldest options. I would consider also adding a 'today/now' option for custom date fields if that's what you mean. Setting a specific value to a specific custom field is too... specific. EpubMerge presents you with the Edit Metadata dialog when a new merged book is created for exactly that sort of personal data management. |

Preferences: Adding Books: Adding actions has a tick (you might remove) to PRESERVE the source date when COPY To Library was used. Jimm can answer if the split uses the same setting when splitting, since a split seems like a kind of merge |

Ok about the edit metadata being too specific. | |

Is support for epub3 possible? I use the extension Save As eBook for pages that are not supported by FanFicFare. And I want to merge them with EpubMerge. And Save As eBook unfortunately only creates epub3. |

Right now, using Calibre's Convert to change epub3 to epub2 (look for Epub Version on the 'EPUB output' section of Convert settings) before using EpubMerge is all I can offer you. I have yet to see any particular advantage to epub3 over epub2, myself. If I were to make any changes to EpubMerge / EpubSplit for epub3, it would be to automatically call Convert epub3->epub2. |

With an automatic conversion to epub2 I have no problem. Especially since it is a relief for me (and the other users of the extension). We save ourselves the manual conversion from epub3 to epub 2. Thanks for considering it.
