It's pretty gusty at times, and there's big seas and tides. Down in Noosa Woods, high tide is getting up above normal height and flooding some of its lower parts. Noosa Main Beach does not exist again (as with last June), with 8' waves coming in (bigger off the points - I just saw a photo on flickr that would have about a 12' wave being ridden by a surfer) and bouncing off the rock wall that's all that's left of the beach. It looks like this (picture from last June):

but with less beach than even that. The boardwalk is police-taped off (maybe only at high tide), as the waves were coming up onto it (there's sandbags on one of the walkthroughs to Hastings St., to avoid any wave-action washing up there).

The waves are...impressive. Traffic is busy, not just with all of the surfers and boogie-boarders, but with us locals going down just to watch the waves crash in, watch the surfers and boogie-boarders, watch some of the big swell break into whitewater even a kilometre or so out, and watch the boogie-boarders try to climb up the rocks without being involuntarily tetrised into the gaps. It looks like, when it all settles down, the surf livesaving flagged area might go back up beyond first breakwall again, until they can pump some sand back along Main.

Amazingly, we have not had a single house-leak.

Well you didn't have to send it south WDE. It's been about 86F here (some days 100F in the sun) on average for the last couple of weeks (wherever HERE is.) Even needed to use the AC the last few days.

But this morning we got a blast of your FRIGID AIR along with alot of wind and rain that's supposed to last into the weekend. We need the rain, but you can keep the chill.

The lightning on the dark western horizon was really pretty this morning during my drive to work, but they were also forcasting "SCATTERED THUNDER" throughout the day. I'm sure glad I made it inside before THAT hit. Wouldn't want to get any of THAT on me.

I'm simultaneoulsy exceedingly jealous of the weather Marc's having (I love it when I'm by the sea and it's stormy and/or windy) and hoping it'll stop, or at least continue not causing any damage

I love the wild weather, though I'm glad Hamish didn't cross the coast as I've no equivalent love for a cabriolet house. The beach will be repaired (I predict by about April...or whenever school holidays coincides with the next local event, like Food Week or somesuch). They pump the sand from the north end of the beach, near the rivermouth, back up to and along Main Beach. Last year they even 'dozed sand loosely over the rocks, which looked nice but probably lead to a few twisted ankles.

You can see where the pumping happens in this photo at Panoramio:

The hole's not normally like this - it's normally just a 10 metre wide, surf-washed "pond" with a warning sign-buoy floating in it telling the people that are swimming in it to not swim in it.

We're now back to occasional showers, and seeing glimpses of sun, though it looks like it might deteriorate to rain again. Still, outlook today and the next few days is 26C, 27C, 28C and 29C, so I'm not complaining.

Why use a bucket and spade when you can use a large generator kept in one shipping-container, a pump station kept in another, and a kilometre of 1-foot diameter heavy-duty pipe? It's fun watching the other kids shoot out the other end.

yes, wasn't it a beautiful day today ?

i went for a walk along the canal, i keep hoping to see the ducklings but so far no luck, i don't know if it is too soon or too late or just bad timing... i wasn't even wearing my jacket ! and i had the windows open at home all day long.

i hope the weather stays nice now. i'm tired of cold and grey sky !

Here it's a beautiful sunshiny 8 deg.C.

Sap is running and I saw a few incoming geese. Their numbers being low we're awaiting cold weather for the rest of the month. Those creatures know.
