Advice on making the Oasis 3 less horribly cold to hold?

For me, too thin means too hard to hold. I've got very small hands, and the beginnings of arthritis. I do better holding a reader in a cover, because I need more to hold on to. The only time I didn't use a cover on a Kindle was my K2 that I kept in a sleeve because the covers made for them used that hinge system to attach and they were known for cracking the bezel.

My thumb joints can't take the motion of squeezing and holding something so thin. Also, I read while laying on my side in bed and prop my Oasis using the cover.

That first little basic Kindle with the thin narrow page turn buttons was horrible to hold and use. It was too small and those buttons were a nightmare.

That is the only kindle I have whose cover improved the reading experience for me, including making it easier to turn pages. The downside was once inside the cover, it is very difficult to get it back out.

I think that a lot of electronics such as phones and Readers are getting to be too thin and that does make them harder to hold. I find my iPhone 6s not nice to hold when it is out of the case because it is too thin.

As for a case for a Reader, I find my H2O easier to hold.

That too. The Oasis's thicker bezel is a very nice design.

For those without RSI or anything that causes weight to be an issue, a case is the best solution to the cold Oasis.

I would have said so too -- certainly it's easiest to undo if you change your mind -- but I'm very happy with my Skinomo skin. Thin, almost invisible, you don't need to cover anything but the bits you find cold (I left the front uncovered because I value not having extra layers on the display and who cares if the *screen* is cold?) and it really does cut down the heat transmission. Downside: hard to undo, a little tricky to install -- though much simpler than I feared it would be, and if someone like me, with coordination deficits and muscle tremor, can do it at first try, I suspect almost anyone can.

I have broken 3 e-readers, once was my fault cause I pressed too much the screen (Nook simple touch, it was my first ereader and didn't know that the screen in e-readers is so fragile) and two Kobos just have fallen by half a meter and I broke the screen again.
It happened about 8 years ago, so probably the resistance of the devices has improved, but anyway I don't trust to use them without a case, at least until the screens have a plastic substrate.

I know, I loved the Forma, I bought it but it has the darker strip on the screen, I changed it and also the replacement one had it, I opened one in the shop and that too had it...I gave up and bought an Oasis lol

My Kindle 4 NTs (I have multiple NT4 readers) just downloaded operating system version 4.1.4 from 4.1.3 when I charged them up and enabled wifi. I installed the update. Any members know what the update changes? Not obvious to me and the update does not include any info on changes or enhancements. Be nice if Amazon included info even if the update is just bug fixes.

It could be a TLS update so the Kindle will still be able to talk to Amazon. Or it could be bug fixes.. Could be all the changes are behind the scenes.

It baffles me when people complain it is cold. it's metal. You probably keep it in a colder or drafty place. I have two oases and never have this problem unless i have the windows open. It's no different than any other metal object. If it really bothers you all you need to do is pop it in a case or store it in a warmer area in the house or wrap it up in fabric when not in use maybe

amazon could have made it from not metal.

My house is cold in winter; my bedroom even colder (less than 60 deg. F/15.5 deg. C at night). You bet that thing is cold! As I've mentioned before, I use a "LoveHandle" phone grip, which improves the experience for me immensely.
