Any chance you can add to the check for locating epub3 books? Epub Split plugin won't work with those.

If you're not going add EPUB3 specific features to an EPUB2 book then converting it to EPUB3 is probably a waste of time and resources. That said, a plugin that could look at the version in content.opf would be useful, especially if it could update a custom column. BR |

I didn't really know what epub3 does. In the end all the books get converted to .Mobi, or KEpub. I just thought it was a snazzy way to update the epubs in polishing. I checked that link you posted, but my mind wasn't prepared...tldr. I will go back. Thanks, you are always a great help to me here

@BetterRed
Ok, if I read that post right, the best action to take would use the epub check for missing TOC, and then just open the TOC and edit it to create it? I think that the epub I had a problem with had the TOC. I just reverted it back to the original file since I kept the previous versions. It only really affected a big omnibus I was trying to split. But it's good to know. |

If EpubSplit fails, assume the EPUB is version 3 without a TOC.NCX file, they're optional in version 3.
According to jackie_w's post all you need do is to open the EPUB in calibre's Edit ToC tool and save it (click OK), that will generate a TOC NCX from the NAV.XHTML (which is mandatory in EPUB3). BR Last edited by BetterRed; 01-07-2020 at 05:19 PM. |

Hello.
Please what criteria does the plugin use to determine if an entry lacks a cover? I have some books Calibre shows as having no cover (it shows the default bordered blue image) but that don't show up in the Quality Check search for 'no cover'. However, these books do have a jpg in their containing folder. The two that QC flags, don't have a cover displayed and don't have a jpg in their folders. None of the above were flagged by a DB integrity check. (I started noticing a lot of these missing covers after reinstalling windows and pointing calibre to my files. Majority are fine but a few ended up like this.) Last edited by please55; 01-14-2020 at 09:42 PM. |

The EPUB BOOKS cover are 2 files (a HTML and the Image that goes on it) inside that are flagged as 'cover'. It is the flag, not the names.
But I think you refer to the one shown in Details / cover browser. (the first on the QC check list and again in the Missing check?). That is easy: There is no cover.jpg in the title folder (or it was not added USING calibre) ![]() |

Edit: For what's below, I PARTIALLY figured out the problem. Somehow the cover.jpg in the folders got corrupted. The epubs are fine (I hope) but naturally the details/browser will fail and show a blank and QC wouldn't flag them because a cover.jpg exists there. For other entries, its displaying pictures from my photo albums or from other books. xD Something else is going really wonky with my DB. So I have a few entries where details/cover browser shows nothing. I remember these are entries that used to show a cover before my last windows format. These same entries also have cover files in their respective folders. And when I open the epubs, covers are there. And the editor confirms it - the cover I see when I open the epub was previously generated by calibre! It's not hassle to fix but trying to pinpoint where / how calibre forgot, why it isn't displaying the covers in the gui. Last edited by please55; 01-14-2020 at 11:02 PM. |

If you are sure the books have valid covers in them, then you use Bulk Metadata edit to extract the covers from the books. Select the books in question, click the edit metadata button and in the "Change cover" box, choose "Set from e-book files". Press OK and calibre will go through the books and either extract the cover or generate one. You could do it for all your books if you are daring enough. |

Hello,
In the [GUI Plugin] Quality Check option Search ePubs Find expression it is possible to find all ePubs that contain a input-text. Could you please add the possibility to find all ePubs that not contain a input-text. Thanks in advance for your collaboration. |

This works to negate any results from a Quality Check operation. |
