Oled is not eInk. I use black pdf, sepia color for text and I down the light ratio to save my eyes. It is not perfect. I choose that way because 12' or 13' eInk screen and device was too slow, too expensive, and without full android app compatbility for my needs. |

I wish you good luck
![]() It is a beautiful piece of hardware though. I got mine before the holidays, tested it a couple of week, but then went for a smaller version, Note 2, because it suits better my needs (reading/commenting on pdf-docs/writing publications on the fly). Writing / drawing on the Max 3 is fantastic (and better than on the Note 2, from my experience now - but then, you need to like the size of the Max 3). If you want to have a keyboard, I can recommend the Logitech K780. It fits very well with the Max 3. Landscape mode with 2 documents is very nice, or even in portrait mode it's quite usable. I will update some picture from a post I made when trying to decide which cover / keyboard to get. I am however struggling with the software (on my Note 2 now, as I didn't use that much the Max 3). I will make a new post in order to stay on focus here, but my point is: make sure to check that all the software features you need are actually working before accepting the Max 3 as your own ![]() |

LED vs OLED vs eInk
Quote:
- eINK with backlight is not fully passiv for the paper. - OLED or AMOLED in blackPDF mode ("night mode") is fully passiv for the paper and not fully passiv for the text. - OLED or AMOLED in standard mode is not passiv for the paper and the text (passiv only for prixels of the text caracteres in full black) - LED (laptop, ipad, not AMOLED tablet, etc.) in blackPDF or standard mode is not passiv for the paper and for the text In black night PDF mode, OLED or AMOLED put on a led only locally on each pixel of the text. So it's really better for the eyes than a classic laptop or tablet with LED display and I can appreciate this difference when I read many PDFs. And it's really speedy and fonctionnal modern device. In the dark, I put the AMOLED screen flat to don't receive light of text directly in the eyes. I use AMOLED with night mode everyday and my eyes are happy. I recommand to try to read on an AMOLED device in night mode before to buy an expensive eINK 12 or 13 inch device |
