It's still not a perfect solution because immediately after any full reboot the Kobo will use the built-in 'Avenir Next' rather than your sideloaded version. You need to force the Kobo to load it's sideloaded fonts. There are some tips in post #2 of this thread. Once your sideloaded font has been accessed it will remain available until the next reboot, i.e. it will survive Sleep mode.

This is a great little trick that gets the page numbers changed to whatever you want. Thanks for this tip.

I do something similar because of my crappy eyesight to always force bolder fonts. I just make a copy of my preferred font for bold and bold italic, then simply rename the copies to -Regular and -Italic, load them onto the reader and I always have the bolder font. I only rename the file names, it works without having to load them into a font program to do internal renaming.

Hmmm...I don't fully understand. I have a Forma and I can borrow books from overdrive. Are you saying that older models don't have OverDrive?

Can simply remove Avenir. Then the default will be Georgia. If I understood correctly, Ripplinger wanted the Georgia font…

It's easier and faster.

Are you sure it'll fall back to Georgia and not to another sans-serif font the way it does now in other places in the UI, like series names? Not to mention that unless there's already a patch for removing Avenir font it's that simple.

I couldn't figure out how to remove a built-in system font, but then I tried jackie_w's method I quoted in my post #436 above and that worked perfectly. So I'm a happy camper with this firmware at this point.

I checked. Perhaps depends on the language of the system menu.

There is a script for removing all system fonts, just edit for yourself.

It is convenient to delete those fonts that you never use. Which you do not need. That they were not in the list of fonts.

Does anyone have a list of the system fonts that are not used at all by any part of the Kobo firmware? My H2O is set to English and always will be while I own it.

"Easier and faster" is a valid point-of-view, but subjective. Won't the next firmware update put the system fonts back again, so you have to repeat the process?

The method I outlined should survive a typical firmware update. Once it's done, it's done.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter. Multiple user choices is always good

Spelled out in css:

Avenir
Georgia
Sans-SerifJP
Sans-SerifZH-Simplified
Sans-SerifZH-Traditional

If they are lacking, similar ones are taken, removing them, you can configure the desired font display.

Will return, you will also have to patch (delete) again or remove directly from the new firmware.

I just described another configuration method, nothing more, everyone chooses the most convenient for themselves.

Many users do not use (or use little) system fonts for reading books. And they increase the list.

And for myself, as a result, I torn Avenir from the Kindle firmware And stopped there. I'm waiting for Kobo to finally fix (update) Avenir.

Which font is the default sans-serif for ePub? I thought it was Avenir. If that is the case, then Avenir is used. Also, what is the default serif font for ePub?

I used to delete them back in the days of 2.x but hasn't bothered since I almost never go to the list of fonts other than to trigger the load of side-loaded Avenir

Wow, this script doesn't take any prisoners! I was only deleting the ones I didn't want, not renaming the whole directory.
