Yes, I still got the emails and the order in rakuten.

Well I would contact them first and see what they say as their policy seems to say 12 months minimum. https://www.techinthebasket.com/warranty

But I think this could be drop shipping they just send the item. So I need to go through rakuten anyway.

It goes like this: I usually work with pdf documents (between 17-20 pages long), using the stock pdf reader, as I want to write notes and drawings on top of those pdf docs. I write notes in some pages, then turn the page and go to the next one. Some times I return to the previous page, and the notes I had written a few seconds/minutes ago do not exist any more!

Please Boyue, fix this now!!!!! It makes this device totally untrustworthy!!!!

PD: firmware/compilation number currently installed in my Mimas: BYRead-V1.1.3-2019092718

It's trickier than you think. In summer and autumn i've sent like 5 or 6 critical errors and bugs related to notes including memory leaks. And while playing around notes i saw strange behavior.

Imagine you have notes with 10-15 pages:
1. You wright something on page 7
2. Go to page 8 and wright something there
3. Then you go back on page 7

And there's nothing.
But if you wait you'll see that stuff you wrote start to come out. Like, Notes app has some threading issue or something. At least they made Notes nearly stable and i don't have any crashes or disappeared notes. Can't tell same about PDF notes because i don't use them. But i'll give it a try too, because i once tried to write something in PDF book and it didn't disappear. But notes got displaced after i returned on that page. Which is not good either.
PS: And i'll mention it again. Boyue made reader, notes and launcher as single app. Onyx has three different apps for each function which makes it more stable.
I've dug into decompiled Boyue's app and found out that it contains KOReader app or something like that. Probably fork of KOReader. So i presume whole app is a one big mess of code. But i'm no developer and can't tell for sure.
Moreover, i asked people who own Onyx Note Pro to share their reader/notes apps and couldn't install those because they're signed for certain hardware. So does Boyue

Damn, 700+mb update today (BYRead-V2.2.0-2020011316). Big changes to ui and other things.

"Sidenotes" appear to fix to a certain page now. Though (in the five minutes I tried it) I didn't figure out how to do more than one.

Still no writing while zoomed in pdf, unless I'm mistaken. Am I the only one who uses fit to page on pdfs?

I like the new layout with bigger buttons and improved status bar. Good to see so many changes.

I'm almost tempted to un-sellotape it from its regular position as my laptop monitor.

I just received the update for the likebook mimas today, I didn't see any errors while it updated, so I'm presuming it all updated smoothly though I could be wrong. However, now the entire notes tab of the home screen is completely unusable, and I can no longer access any of my notes. Whenever I click on the tab, I starts to load the notes, flashed a black screen, then jumps back to the books tab.
So if anyone is reading this, please back up your files before updating. If anyone knows how to fix this, I am willing to try anything. I already sent in a message to the team, but I have yet to receive a response

Also, already got crash while trying out notes in PDF books:
1) Made note on page 1
2) Made note on page 2
3) Went switching between page 1 and 2 continuously until app crashed eventually in 3 seconds

TTS works alright

Eraser in Notes now acts like on Samsung devices - doesn't delete bunch of pixels under but removes whole line it intersects

Use adb logcat to get logs while you navigate into Notes. Looks like error. I once had error and couldn't open one specific notebook after crash.
My notebook contained 17 pages. And i was at page 17. Deleted page 17 and got to page 16 and notes crashed at this point. So i tried to open my notebook again and got out of bound error. Reader still thought that i was at page 17 but there were only 16 pages but i was able to export this notebook as PDF

Anyway, you can get your notes from Notes directory. They're just bunch of PNGs "stitched" through XMLs

Then send logs to Boyue. Sometimes they just don't see income mail. Had to mail them twice

Last system update is 700+ mb, a big one, but PDF export is gone across all Boyue apps. Exporting PDF annotations is now terrible in what looks a jpg embedded in a html file (not even png), lots of image artifacts, looks awful.
Exported notepad notes look a little better, but not even close to a proper vector graphic as in previous OS version.
I'm quite disapointed here.

Standard screen has tabs with Apps, Notes and library
Backlit now can be toggled from the status bar. And you can mix cold/warm light without any additional apps.



Also you still can access android settings via About menu


Notes now can be put into groups. You can get pen/eraser settings if you tap on the icon again at the bottom

Forgot about exporting. Yes, Notes are being exported into HTML and this is something. And you can't get pics in easy way since they're encoded into Base64 and aren't embedded pics. Not great, not terrible. But PDF is indeed preferable because you get what you see. Or at least they could export into HTML only pages as they are without any additional text so you can print HTML into PDF.
It's been told that in March we'll get update with Android 8 so better hurry up with all errors and bugs and change requests
