Firmware 4.20.14627 [HOAX -ed.]
Hi,

I just synced my Kobo and it updated to 4.20.14627 according to the device settings. It The date it says is 12/29/2019.

What type of Kobo and what affiliate? Where are you located (country not your exact street address).

I just checked with the firmware download site and there is no sign of 4.20.14627.

I'm almost certain this firmware version doesn't exist (and never has). If it did, kfwproxy would have picked it up (and it would be in my signature below), as it updates every 15 minutes and checks 15 affiliates for all devices from multiple locations. In addition, I manually check for new versions every week.

It is a Clara like I said in the title of the post. i don't know what an affiliate is, but I bought it at eBay. I live in Vancouver Canada.

Post a photo of the Settings->Device Information screen that shows the firmware version; that'll help.

Kfwproxy (https://github.com/geek1011/kfwproxy) is a proxy which is used by kobofirmware and my update scripts. It proxies requests to the Kobo upgrade API and release notes, and caches the responses for up to 15 minutes to prevent my firmware page from sending hundreds of thousands of daily requests to Kobo. It also archives the release notes and firmware links it sees. In addition, it records the latest version returned in any request and shows it as either text (https://kfwproxy.geek1011.net/latest/version) or an image (see my signature).

For the patches, can you search "devmodeon" in the search bar, open a command prompt and type "telnet the.ip.of.your.kobo" then "tar cvf /mnt/onboard/kobo.tar /usr/local/Kobo", copy it from your Kobo and upload it somewhere, then search "devmodeoff" again?
