Even by Amazon's and Audible's standards, this is a particularly ill-thought out promotion. They need to keep elaborating the rules and they've moved the goalposts, too. People are confused and irritated.

First, a heads up; something that particularly irritates me. I'm on a promotional membership which runs out at the end of February. I read and reread the rules and there was nothing at all to indicate that I couldn't quit at that point, having already completed the challenge; indeed, it said the reverse by implication, having listed a definitive set of qualifications all of which would have been met. But I'm glad I kept looking, because as of this morning, it's been altered to say that you have to be a paid member through March 17. And not all Audible employees on social media are up to speed on that one yet, either.

So, for my purposes, will it be worth reverting to a standard membership for one month? Yes, but only barely. I'll be paying $14.95 for an audiobook and $20 of Amazon credit. This is hardly the free money I thought I'd get originally and which the rules said I would. I don't have Prime and the $20 credit has to be used within 30 days, so it's not all that valuable, given how very many unheard audiobooks I already have.

I already had questions. I mostly listen to Audible books through the app (necessary), but offline. Will they count if I reach the end and then go online to delete it? It's not worth trying to find out, especially given how much misinformation Audible has already pumped out. I'll tweak my behavior a bit to make sure I qualify with books entirely heard while connected. But it's annoying; it would be easier just to hit play and walk away on three short books that don't interest me. Originally I was going to play by the spirit as well as the letter of the rule, because why not? I'm not feeling it anymore, though.

I'm on the mac desktop app. It shows the Audible Challenge and "get started". I've looked everywhere I can think to look and haven't found a tracker. Oh well, $20 would have been cool but I'm not going to stress over it if they want to play dirty.

Hmm. I'm not seeing it? Does that mean I've read that many? Or that I haven't read any? And do they count re-reads?

Really, this is the least clear promotion I can remember from a company that specializes in such ambiguity.
