With the relative dearth of free or cheap audible memberships lately, and the great choices in the current buy 1 get 1 free sale, I’m thinking about buying credits for the first time. 3 credits for $35.88, so 6 books at $6 each. A bit higher than my norm, but good enough to build my backlog even higher.

Wish I could say the same. I've got one book sitting in the sale cart and I'm hoping they add more books in the last day or so, as is not atypical. No guarantee I'll find another book at that.

Don't forget Audible gift cards (3 months and/or 3 credits for $30). If you are already a member membership is not extended, you just get the credits. Still, $10 per credit. I know Best Buy sells them and I suppose other places.

So to be clear: If I'm a non-member and apply a gift card, I get three months membership, with one credit available. If I immedatly apply a second gift card, I still only have three months membership, but now I'll have four credits available.
If I instead wait three months till my membership expires before applying the secnd card, I'll get three more months with one credit available. Is that correct?

I have a couple of cards I got during a holiday promo but have not used them. My understanding is that if you are not a current member you get 3 months and one credit per month for a total of three but not all at once. Only one is immediately available as you say.

This is interesting:
The cards I have (from Best Buy)say 3mos./3 credits right at the top of the card. They also have $45 crossed out and replaced with $30 price. Amazon sells the exact same card for $45.
