I love those final few lines of the song, where everything we've been told so far is a complete lie. More Tom for me today after this thread. Now listening to: Clap Hands from Rain Dogs by Tom Waits.

Reminds me of Damon Runyon for some reason
No such thing as "Euclit Avenue" in Minneapolis. There is a Euclid Place in a ritzy neighborhood near Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles. It's also nowhere near 9th Street. Does Barnes & Noble count as a "dirty" bookstore?

Almost as silly as that song about the "Wheat Fields of St. Paul."

But nowhere near as silly as that award-winning episode of the X Files that had mountains in the Twin Cities. Dear Vancouver Film Industry: Please do your research before scouting filming locations.

Damn now I have to go through my whole collection of music and fact check it for accuracy

How many roads does a man have to walk down before he's a man, anyway? I wonder if Dylan can provide me some kind of statistical analysis of that, or maybe a pie chart or graph? And there's no possible way you can swim to the moon, is there? I must contact the remaining members of the Doors to make sure they know about that mistake in their song Moonlight Drive! Oh, and who can forget Alice Cooper's major slip up when he said that School's Out Forever!

I find that music is frequently much more enjoyable if one simply doesn't pay too much attention to the lyrics, because they rarely make much sense. The Smashing Pumpkins taught me this important lesson.

Ahh, the Pumpkins, I still listen to Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness from time to time (which makes no sense at all)

Oscar Brand's Folksong Festival on WNYC-AM through www.wnyc.org. The song at the moment is The Starbucks of County Down, a very funny adaptation of the Maid of County Down
