So, the top end of the device is a small USB connector that fits into Sony Reader?
I just wonder how many AA would one need to fully recharge the reader.

In theory, 1 AA battery should give you several charges. The Sony has a 750mAH battery. A good quality alkaline AA battery has a capacity of perhaps 3000mAH.

Check the print on your AC adapter. Are you using the PSP one? I just checked my PSP adapter and it says it will accept 100-240volt current, so even if I was going to europe (220/240v) all I would need is a prong adapter.

I've noticed most AC adapters for pricey electronics support both major world voltages, it's probably cheaper for the manufacturer to just make one kind. However, that's not always true. While my PSP AC adapter is 100-240v, my Nintendo DS AC adapter is 100v only.

WOW!

Sounds impressive. I would prefer to travel with this gadget than power adapter. I would like to hear a word from owner of the charger.

I bought the iGo based on a recommendation on MobileRead but haven't had to use it. What appeals to me is the fact it uses AA batteries and you can get those world wide. I also carry my charger when I travel. But the iGo would be handy were you stuck on a very long flight.

The iGo looks pretty neat, and when I was staring at its product page, it suddenly hit me-- I used to have a battery pack charger for my PSP, which I'd wager would probably work with my Sony reader.

iGo looks like a nicer device, but if you're in a Bestbuy or similar establishment, it might be worth a glance at the PSP accessories to see if there is a similar device for cheap. I'm pretty sure mine wasn't more than $10 all told (and it didn't need any "tip" adapters)..

I was trying to google to see if I could find product info (I have no idea where it is at home), I wasn't exactly successful. I did find other, similar products with the google search: psp emergency battery

Yes, any PSP power source will work just fine with the Sony - they have the same power spec.
