				Liquid Glass Protector

Anyone try using Liquid Glass Protector and one of these Onyx devices or any ereading device? I'm thinking of putting it on my Nova Pro.

100% waste of money. You do not need a screen protector on a Reader. You use a cover that protects the screen when you aren't using it.

So I'll redefine the question for anyone else that's going to offer advice: So I'm really only looking for advice regarding the question about liquid protectors vs standard screen protectors. I'm thinking of using the liquid glass then putting the standard protector that came with it over that. Maybe it adds a little more protection TO THIS GLASS SCREEN. |

You might want a screen protector if your pen nibs scratch the screen, but I wouldn't use one to try to protect the screen from breaking. The fragile glass substrates are on the other side of the eink film (i.e. under your display) and are usually broken by twisting or bending the device. Plastic substrates don't need any extra protection at all since they aren't fragile.

7.8" eInk Carta Displays are only glass layer, 10.3" are only flexible layer, 13.3" are either flexible or glass.

7.8 can easily break, 10.3 can be scratched. 13.3 glass can break; 13.3 flexible can be scratched, and only on flexible layers does a protective film make sense. |

People seem to be confusing having a glass substrate with having a glass cover.

The substrate goes under the E-Ink film. It is not visible. The only way to tell if an E-Ink screen has a glass or plastic substrate is to check the specifications. The cover goes over the E-Ink screen, and is used to provide a level front to the device, along with touch screen and light guides. An example is the Kindle Oasis. The Basic Kindle has no glass in front of the E-Ink screen, but still has a glass substrate. |

From what I understand, the Nova Pro and the Note Pro employ a glass screen on top to prevent scratching by the stylus as was occurring on the original Note with the flexible plastic screen and which did not have a frontlight.

@Guns4Hire as has been said, the part of the screen that can break is the glass substrate and that's behind the screen. A glass screen protector or any screen protector will not protect the glass substrate. So buying a screen protector won't d anything useful and will only be a waste of money and it can cause clarity issues sometimes.

Well that's how I always felt regarding protective screens when it came to ereaders. But my Mars was the most fragile (in my mind) of all that I've owned. Was thinking it might make I a tiny bit more protected but based on the responses I guess not.

Sorry, but it won't be any more protected given that the glass substrate in under the screen.
