I see no point in starting a new series while there is another series ongoing. It means either it's going to take longer for both series or one of them is going to get ignored. Finish one then start the other.

Supposedly, Dresden Files has been mapped out. So I think it will be finished. When, I have no idea.

A number of authors juggle multiple series as a way to avoid getting burned out on any one series, i.e. the Sherlock Holmes syndrome. During his prime David Weber usually had two or sometimes three series going. It seems to work well for authors who do multiple books a year. Authors who produce a book every few years don't seem to have the same burn out problem.

I've pretty much given up on waiting for Dresden. Much as I love it, I'm retired and, at the current rate, won't live to see the end, it looks to be about 20+ years away. So, I'll enjoy them when they come out, maybe re-read sometime, but no expectations any more.

The information as a whole still doesn't make sense. If the date is correct, the rest should be too. Cinder Spires is even with the same publisher, even though different imprint. And now it is supposedly a different publisher? April fits the time frame, but not coming from Orbit.

Apparently preorder able elsewhere, also listed by Orbit on Amazon (and not ROC like the USA release should be). So maybe April 16th is correct for release, and Orbit is the publisher outside the US. At least for the Kindle edition. (Stupid geo restrictions and publishing rights!!!)

Skin game is the only Dresden book that I've not read. All this wait is fine by me. I'm younger than Jim Butcher and I can read other books while waiting for Peace Talks.

Absolutely no idea. I suspect it depends on if The Aeronaut's Windlass sold and if he has a contract for multiples.

Well, if he's not going to do any more in that series, then the book should have been written as a one off.

I won't ask, in case I ever try it. I tried the Codex Alera series; that's the one with the human boy and the human(ish) girl, right? I just...IDK, I think by the end of the 2nd (?) book I just wasn't interested. I thought it was more MG or YA reader, rather than on a par with the Dresdens.
