The only thing we need to do now is request Kobo include a monospace font now that the RMSDK CSS is fixed.

. To be fair, in the absence of an actual default monospace font in the firmware, there are only 2 font choices they could have used for generic monospace, i.e. generic serif (Georgia) or generic sans-serif (Avenir). The latter is probably, just about, preferable.

Does anyone know if 14.19 has resolved the following bug which seemed to pop up in 14.17: When you tap the screen while reading, it ALWAYS pulls up the page navigation buttons, instead of the function that you were last using.

Example: In the past, I was able to tap the screen once, and it would show the reading stats because that was the function that I would be looking at most often. Now it seems that every time I tap the screen the quickly view the reading stats, I THEN tap on the reading stats icon to get out of the page navigation menu. I would love for this to work as it did in 14.15, in which case it recalled the last function viewed and didn't default every time to the page navigation options.

That isn't a bug; it's by design. I doubt it will ever be "fixed".

It's still the same, though to be honest it just sounds to me like a voluntary change in behaviour, not a bug. It makes much more sense for the reader to always call up the 'default' state (navigation) rather than wherever you'd left off before.

As much as I liked the previous behaviour (the progress chart gives me more information about where I am in a book), this is definitely a design change. It was part of the overall rebuild of the menus in the book.

Updated today and all side loaded books have been deleted. This is the first time I've updated a kobo so don't know if this is normal?

All I did was press the sync icon, it downloaded the firmware, reset itself, asked me to sign back in on my WiFi and now there is nothing there? My over drive account is deleted too so seems like it's gone back to factory settings. Why would it do that???

Does anyone know how I can get my side loaded books back or is it a case of putting them all back on manually one more?

Makes me scared now to ever update the damn thing again. Never had this issue with Kindle

I cannot say what happened, but that is not normal. Do you use Kobo Utilities to backup the database? If you do, you can restore the database and using Calibre, put all of your eBooks back on.

Kobo is sending out the new firmware when you sync if Kobo is your affiliate.

On my Libra, I noticed a small glitch.

While reading, if I tap in the middle to access the top menu, after I tap again to close it, I see a bit of a glitch. The transition is not smooth like it was before.

I like to have gain the reading stats menu being more accessible in this new firmware, but not the glitch...

You can see something like that if the database on the device was corrupted, but, the device hadn't been restarted for a while. In this case, the issue isn't the update, it is the fact that when the device is restarted, the database couldn't be read. When this happens, it usually means the database gets reset and you are prompted to sign in again. Then it reimports the sideloaded books. Sometimes, it might not import the books immediately. If you connect to the PC and disconnect, it should do them then. And you can look to see if the books are still on the device.

If the sideloaded books are not there at all, then it suggests a full factory reset was done. That is unusual. It would also have meant the device rebooted a couple of times, and should have rebooted again when you were doing the setup. The factory reset would have formatted the book partitions. The only thing you can do is put the books back on the device.

Yea it did reset a couple of times. I've plugged it into the computer and there are no books there. I've had to set it up from scratch so looks like it did a total factory reset for some reason. Luckily all my books are on calibre so it's easy enough to put them back on bit it's still a pain that I need to when the system it self updated

It isn't expected to happen, and it shouldn't. And, while it is only one person, I have never had this happen when updating the firmware on a Kobo ereader. And I have done that a lot of times.

won't help now, but I do regular backups of my entire kobo including the main folder where the books live so all I have to do is copy them back, along with the covers assuming they've been kept in a folder somewhere.

doubt it will help if you're in the middle of a book. probably the bookmarks aren't kept, but I get to find out the first time it all goes to shyte for me. I'm expecting it since things happen.
