Frozen Kindle Paperwhite (first)
My Paperwhite is frozen on the home page, but without the top line info such home button, etc. I have recharged but it still is unresponsive to my touch, so of course I cannot read the manual which is on it. Any suggestions? I'm at a total loss as how to proceed.

Press and hold the power button for a full 30 seconds, set it down and wait while it reboots.

Do I close the cover or keep it open? I did do the hold, but there was no change. I have left it plugged into a wall charger cover closed, hoping it might do something but slowly. How long do I keep hoping? Overnight?

The cover would need to be open for the Kindle to reboot.

For the charge, connect it to a wall charger and try more than 24 hours. Even 48 if that doesn't work.

It worked! My Kindle has returned to life! Getting it charged back up for over 24 hr then hitting the button for 40-60 sec., and leaving it plugged in for awhile while it rebooted. But I'm taking this as a wake up call since this is an original Paperwhite-- I'm guessing it's life is nearing the end. I suppose I should start shopping.
