In that case, KePub would need to be converted to ePub as the code for KePub does effect the formatting when treated as just an ePub. Fortunately, the Modify ePub plugin for Calibre can remove the KePub code.

That's correct. To read a kepub with PocketBook, first it must be converted in an epub.

I'm not asking what can use your device; I'm asking the name of the character indicated as "default" or "serif" by pocketbook (specifically the character in the screenshot); is it by chance a "noto serif"?

This can be useful for testing what your e-reader supports:

I told you that Pocket Book USES FONTS INSTALLED, it doens't have own fonts. So, if your device don't have Noto Serif, then, you can't use Noto Serif, UNLESS you upload that font. I explained you that you are who define what are the default fonts for PocketBook. Do you understand? In PocketBook you have a list with all installed fonts (installed by you or by android) and you decide the priority. You like Noto? Then set it first in the list. You like Noto and your android doesn't have it? Then install Noto in your android device and you will be able to use it. And please, before asking me a new question with that enormous kindness and tact that you have, read first what I wrote. |

Exactly what do you think the differences are? The Modify ePub removes the spans, an empty stylesheet and a Javascript file that probably won't get executed. How is that going to make the book look different?

PocketBook has full support for javascript, so if the script does something, even with the epub2 protocol, the WebKit engine of the app will run it. Another thing is if you opt for reading the epub2 with the RMSDK engine (also present in the app); in that case, no javascript will be executed.

I downloaded PocketBook, but it only seems to be searching my device for EPUB files at a very superficial level. How can I make it delve deeper in the directory tree?
Also, it seems slapdash at reading MOBI files. For instance, apostrophes render as commas. |

You have to go to "Settings" (tap where you see ≡ in the main screen) and there you can indicate all the folders that you want to be scanned. The supports for mobi is only for the "old" .mobi format and try changing the render engine; there is difference between RMSDK and WebKit.

Oh right. I didn't find the selection process very clear. Seems to be working now. Thanks.
