Oasis 3 uneven lighting in corners ?

Simply sticking sellotape (US: scotch tape, I think?) over the back and sides does a world of good to reduce the thing's ridiculous heat transfer and sharpness. I suspect the Skinomi cover I've ordered will fix the other problems, though I hope I can install only the back-and-sides parts of it since I really don't want any extra layers over the screen. (They seem to be separate pieces, so that should work, I hope.)

Will report back in the new year when the Skinomi cover finally turns up.

are you talking about their carbon fiber cover? I was looking at that and there shouldn't be a problem only using the back and sides. though it has been mentioned that skins don't mitigate the cold.

I turn pages numbers off and in no time they are back on. if I pick it up it goes forward multiple chapters. did that last night and this morning, and I did not touch the screen or the buttons. I was on chapter 8 and was suddenly on chapter 40. this was just unplugging it. not good for me at all. and the sharp edges are eating me up.

thank you. I want a truly soft back cover only. think true silicone (no tpu) or leather. I had seen this one but it isn't the experience I want.

I had that problem with my Oasis 2 and solved it by taking an emery board to the edges and filing them down. Not something that should be needed on any device at that price, but it solved my problem. I have a Decal Girl skin that makes it a bit less cold to hold on to. If I could have the screen size, battery life, and non-metal case of my Paperwhite 4 along with the buttons from the Oasis I’d have my perfect device.

I don't use the buttons so that's a none starter for me. the size difference isn't big enough to be wowed by it and I'm not going to sand anything with an emery board that needs to go back.

it has too many issues to be kept, aside from the cold back and sharp edges. they are the least of my concerns.

eta: sure is nice to be able to read again though. I've been a long while without an ereader.

I think most of the cases and covers I’ve seen for it are in one of two category types. Either they use a slip-in design where the Oasis is slipped into a bulky leather or faux leather case, or they use a plastic snap in plate to secure the Oasis. I got the Amazon case that uses the plastic snap in plate. I think it is too thin. I still remember the leather case I had for my K3 Keyboard model way back, and that was great, but the trend today is "thinner is better" in devices. But with my arthritis and carpel/cubital tunnel syndromes, "thin" makes cases difficult and painful to hold. I wish Otterbox made a Defender case for the Oasis, that is what I use on my iPhone XR and iPad. Unfortunately most people seem to prefer the thin cases these days, so not too many choices available that work for me.

It does sound like your Oasis likes to jump around the book a lot and the screen seems to activate commands on its own. I still wonder if that is due to holding the bare aluminum body and having static charges. Mine hasn't done any of that, but it is always in a case. And of course your Oasis could just be defective. Amazon's quality control probably isn’t as good as it should be.

I am now 100% convinced it is, in fact, static related. not planning to send it back now unless it does something weird beyond what has happened so far. I am going to find a way to get a silicone back that wraps to the front. may need one 3D printed, but I won't give up until I get. I can fix the cold back, but the sharp edges are now the real issue so I need a silicone wrap.

Yeah, it's the TechSkin. Just like that except the version for Oasis 3. It looks like I can put on all but the front piece and get what I want
