Kobo Phone Home ?

Hi guys, does anyone know if Kobo still engages in any kind of telemetry?

Evidently they once used Google Analytics and other undesirables:

You can turn it off in the settings. It is the last option on the "Energy saving and privacy" page. But, when you do this, it also turns of stats collection. That means the "Reading stats" page in the "Activity" section will be blank.

You can also set a custom GA ID in the config file (I'd need to look up what it was called again, though), which would effectively disable it.

Or you can do what I do. I keep my Kobos in airplane mode, so they never connect via wi-fi. I use Calibre and transfer books to it via USB.

I too keep WiFi off on my H2O. I don't do it because of privacy. I do it because I don't read KePub and don't sync.
