Smile [Calibre 4.4] Changes to Layout Don't Stick
Don't know if this is a recent problem but now find that the change layout option is not sticking when restarting Calibre ie if I choose to show the cover browser it works fine but if I then choose to hide the cover browser, the next time I start Calibre the cover browser is shown.(I am on Calibre 4.4)

What OS?
W10 x64 is doing this (wide, not detached)

And it is also doing this (forgetting last showing) for the details pane

Normally, I don't use either, so I had not seen this before
Now I can't start without previously hidden panes (tags, details) being open on Calibre startup. WEIRD

Now this gets weirder.

I had Calibre open on the second monitor. When I moved it back to the main monitor, shut it down, started it back up, it opened with everything else hidden (just the way I like it).

When I tested because of the OP's query, I did Multiple Restarts (ctl-R) after making changes . I even tried Closing Calibre and a fresh startup

I did a couple of changes too. When I did a calibre restart the layout changes did not take. When I simply closed calibre and directly reopened calibre the changes remained in place as expected. This behavior is repeatable on my machine time and again.

Windows 10 1809
Calibre (64bit) version 4.4
