Overdrive integration apply to an account...?

... or to a particular reader? It seems like I remember reading that, if you had one Kobo that supported Overdrive integration you could use any older (no Overdrive integration support) Kobo on the same account. Or maybe that was false information (or maybe my memory is gone). I tried to find the threads that talked about this but I couldn't.

The reason I ask is I'm curious if I had a nice original Kobo Aura HD (for example, which has no Overdrive integration) and found a cheap Kobo Aura Edition 2 (which does have Overdrive integration) -- could you set up the Overdrive account with the Aura and borrow with the HD? That doesn't seem right, but it was what I think I remember reading. (Hope this makes some sense and isn't too redundant.) |

OD applies to the account, but, you can only borrow from devices that support it. You will need to setup OD on the Aura Edition 2. Then, books borrowed with this account are added to you Kobo account. They will then download to all devices that use the Kobo account.

You might also need to download the borrowed books to the device with OD on it before it will download to the other devices. I think that is needed, but, I don't use it enough to be sure. |

That's not a problem. So long as you can use the Aura Edition is the "gateway" and it "opens up" reading the book on other devices. I'll soon be in position to try this is as I found an Aura Edition 2 on Shop Goodwill and no one seemed to really want it(?). And I had already found an Aura HD. So I'll soon have two front-lit Kobos. |
