Kobo Aura repair aid needed

My gf dropped my Kobo Aura today... twice... now the device seem stocked on the powered off screen. When I try to turn it on, the power light flash but nothing change on the display. I can however turn the light on, thus making me think that the problem is with the display/screen.

I’ve tried different kind of reset to no avail. I can’t detect the device once connected to a PC, probably because I don’t see the «*connect*» button on the screen.

Is there something else I can try to repair my device?

It does sound like the screen is broken. Take a photo and attach it so we can see.

If it is the screen, your best solution is to get a new Kobo. Question, was your Aura in a case?

Can you post a photo of the screen? My guess is a broken display substrate. Eink devices aren't made for that sort of treatment :/

No obvious damage, but something happened when it fell. You might want to open it up and see if any ribbon cables popped loose.

If it proves to be a broken screen, it would probably be cheaper to buy a used Aura then fix this one.

One is for sale at GoodyStore for $40 plus shipping. In the U.S. the shipping is $9.45, but, if sent to to other countries, I'm sure it would be more expensive. This seller always offers "Make Offer" so you could probably get $5-$7 taken off the price by doing that.

Or maybe it would be better to upgrade to a newer Kobo at this point.

I think it’s dead

I wonder if I’ll find a black friday deal for it in Canada...

I doubt that there will be a deal for a new item, as this model was discountinued in 2016. Your only chance is to get a used or refurbished one on ebay or somethling like this. I wish you good luck with it

Edit: Man you have luck! It's pink and it might have scratches, but you can get for 20$ with free shipping from china

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kobo-Aura-D...t/163959304876

Edit: Same seller, same price, but in black

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kobo-Aura-D...t/163952791899

Bought one for myself!
